Title: Books, Books Books on Afterlife etc Post by betson on Jun 27th, 2010 at 9:02am
Hi,
Here's some trivia for book lovers. It came up when my husband was reading 'These Lovely Bones" about a murder victim who can look back from the afterlife at the living but cannot interact with them. We were surprised that that author and publisher had not described the book as being about the afterlife. The 'description' we noticed was the one the Library of Congress uses as subject headings. Subject headings are often used by buyers of books for libraries and book stores to find choices for their clients' interests. On the LibCong website www.WorldCat.org asking for adult non-fiction books in English, here's the number of books that they have with subjects related to afterlife interests: Afterlife -- 261, near-death experiences -- 339, heaven -- 350, out of body experiences -- 886, purgatory -- 1399, ghosts -- 10,591, consciousness -- 28,356 (!) Thanks for the statistics, betson. :-)
I have a concept that when we cross over, our consciusness goes to the astral plane. However, if we don't cross over, our consciousness stays in the mental plane, which surrounds the physical plane at all times. Ralph |
