Title: My book is published--Persephone's Journey Post by Vicky on May 4th, 2010 at 12:00am
Hi everyone,
I'm so happy to finally be able to announce here that my book is ready. Today it appeared on Amazon although as I understand, my Amazon listing is still under development over the next few days or weeks. But at least it's up and running. Please check it out! www.amazon.com You can find it by searching Amazon for Persephone's Journey or my name, Vicky M. Short. You can also find it on CreateSpace. This page is already developed and has a book description and author bio. It is an E-Store page given by the publisher and you can buy it there too. www.createspace.com/3443642 If any of you get my book, please let me know what you think, either here or email me personally. I'd love to hear any feedback or questions. And if anyone has any questions about how I published it for your own interest in self-publishing, I'd be more than happy to help you. CreateSpace is a print-on-demand self-publishing route which I found perfect for me and my needs. It was easy to use and the people there were extremely generous with their help. The hardest part was learning how to typeset the entire book myself, but I was happy for the opportunity to learn how to do it and very pleased with the results. www.createspace.com Love, Vicky |

Vickie,
Picked it up at the mailbox last night about 3rd of the way thru, trying to ration my self by taking commercial breaks to do chores to reflect. It's helping me to remember and have faith in my own experiences. Thanks for writing it. Love, Jean :-* Will get back to you later re:feedback. |

Vicky,
Just finished it yesterday and am on my 2nd read. Such an excellent supplement to the Guidebook because it covers so many variations regarding our experiences beyond the current physical one while at the same time relating them to Bruce's material. Although it records your life from your unique individual point of viewpoint, I find many similarities to my life. You reminded me of still more of my own early experiences while starting to trigger or fire up my dreams (had an odd retreival one this a.m.) and desire to start practicing Monroe and Bruce's exercises again. I also noticed that I had the increased ability to motivate friends at a recent gathering into sharing their intuitive experiences after getting more than half way thru Persephone's Journey. Additionally, I've come to similar conclusions regarding past lives, OBE's, and the input from those around us. But I too have yet learned how to deal with other's that find any of this type of exploration so reprehensible that they will attack you but I intend to continue to attempt to understand, use PUL, and realize that I just can't let them get me down (experienced a particularly bad year with family in '09). Back to you, great book, much appreciated, thank's and looking forward to your next one. Love, Jean |

Hi Jean,
Thank you so much for that wonderful review...it makes me so happy to see this! It sounds like you've had plenty of the same types of experiences that I've had. I heard from a woman at work who bought my book, who isn't normally into any of these types of topics, that reading my book was making her realize that she too has had some of the same kinds of experiences I write about but that she never really paid that much attention to them before. I'm happy to hear my book is having that effect. I hope Bruce will be pleased to see what you wrote too! I'm glad you're enjoying it for another read!! And yes, I am working on a second book...might as well say it here since this is my thread, ha ha. With my next book I hope to demonstrate my personalized training of teaching myself how to be psychic, perfect the skills, and to use them at will. Persephone's Journey shows how seemingly "random" my experiences have been, and now I want to step things up and see how I can put what I've learned to use. Bruce is still an incredible integral part of my training, and I cannot help but include that in my writing. I certainly cannot take credit for how far I've come when in fact he's the one who has been teaching me what I'm learning. Love, Vicky :) |

Vicky,
I know you don't know me but can I make a suggestion re your book. In your overview you mention Bruce quite a lot!!, while its fantastic he's helped you on your path and motivated you to explore further. Its not Bruce's book, nor is it his experiences. The way you've written your b/o makes the reader think, why read Vicky's book I might as well go staight to the goods and read Bruce's. Now you didn't put all that effort in to promote someone else, did you? This work is yours and you need to take ownership of it, its your story after all. No ma-lass to Bruce but just my take when I went to the page to have a read. Think about it, that's all |
Title: Re: My book is published--Persephone's Journey Post by Vicky on May 25th, 2010 at 8:19am
Hi Balance,
Thanks for your comments. I hear what you are saying and I feel comfortable with my presentation of credit to Bruce. If someone reads the back of my book, or the snippet on line of what it's about, and see's I give my credit to Bruce, they either already know about Bruce and his work, or they do not. I see it as making no difference as to whether or not someone is interested in reading true stories about psychic, paranormal, and spiritual experiences as told through a first-person viewpoint. My book and my stories certainly differ from Bruce's own books and stories and teachings in many ways. It's true. Where we align is that I have merely been able to see things in Bruce's work that Bruce himself hasn't seen yet. Those things are the applications his work and teachings has taught me about my own personal life experiences. In being personal friends with Bruce, I've always had the opportunity and pleasure to share my experiences with him. Basically, I pick his brain whenever I get the chance! We have fun talking about these topics, and in doing so we both learn something new. And, he's always able to remind me of things I tend to forget, or point out things that I didn't realize. His help in this way has increased my psychic ability to the point that I'm no longer just having random, one-in-a-blue-moon psychic experiences, but instead am now able to finally begin to use these abilities, gain control, and learn more than I ever have before. So if my book makes someone want to read his work, that's fine with me. I know the right person will be drawn to mine for the right reasons. When I first picked up Bruce's first book in the bookstore, you know what made me buy it? One thing that stood out was that he mentioned Robert Monroe. I knew about Monroe and felt that anyone who felt they'd learned enough from him that they wanted to share their own unique experiences would write a good book. I'm hoping my book will do the same...that is, if the person who looks at it knows who Bruce Moen is. And for those who read what it's about and don't know who he is, well then maybe something else will drawn them to my book. Maybe there are people out there who have had the same kind of "weird" experiences I've had and who need to figure out why they happen and what they mean. Maybe they'll be happen to see there's other people out there willing to share their stories. Thanks for your input. If you read it, please let me know what you think. I've heard every kind of comment you can imagine, so I'm all ears! It's fun and exciting to put myself out there and hear how it strikes someone. I have enjoyed every bit of it. :) Love, Vicky |

I just want to let you all know that my book on Amazon now finally has the "Look Inside!" feature up and running.
If anyone has any ideas for advertising my book anywhere, like on a website or blog or for a book review, please let me know. Writing is a piece of cake compared to marketing. ;) I am sending a copy to an author in Maine who writes memoir and teaches how to write it. I was inspired and learned a lot from him although I told him my subject matter probably wasn't up his ally. But he said it sounded fascinating and was looking forward to it. Well, I'm looking foward to seeing how he likes it. Thanks to those of you who personally gave me your comments and feedback. I appreciate it. Vicky |

Hi Carol Ann! Yes, "finally" is right. There were so many obsticles the past year, but I've had some great helpers to help me get it out there finally. Thanks for being one of my volunteer readers. Your advice and comments were very helpful. Did you check out the Amazon link? I am so proud of the cover photo. Have to give a lot of credit to Bruce on that one. I couldn't have done it without his help. It took us a couple of weeks to get it right.
Nice to hear from you Carol Ann. Love, Vicky |

Hi Vicky,
Been trying to get back to you but my concentration has been poor lately. It affects my reading and I notice that I'm easily distracted. Fortunately Comcast has discounted my tv access to HLN-thank god. A little of that tabloid station can go a long way. Anyhow, I found your section on imagination especially helpful in reminding me of how I was able to develop my nonphysical skills to the point that when I was blindsided by a 2 week medically induced coma, I was able to distinguish and recognize the various levels. The most intense was when I was on the threshold of life and death. I consider that experience a full blown OBE but the others were varies combos of possible mental telepathy, helpful delusions, and funny hallucinations. The later ones took place after during surgery decisions, in ICU, and as I was coming out of the coma. In one I got a great suggestion for a Totem to use if I was into native American lore and the others I got the opportunity to experience much of what many of my clients were going through whether it be in their in their mental health issue or drug use or a combo of both. Aside from my own perception of the experience I was fortunate enough to have regular journal notes recorder by my 3 sons and 3 brothers in addition to my medical records. I noticed that my nonphysical self was extremely active during this period. In addition I was able to see first hand what Bruce means by the interpreter tagging on to the first familiar concept in hopes of helping us to make sense of a nonphysical story line. For example, while in the coma my mind had made up a story regarding the circumstances of my oldest son's involvement with coming to my aid. When I repeated this story back to my son during recovery, he was able to verify the essence of his reactions, including who he was with at the time, transportation arrangements, and other details but not quite the same way that my mind ordered it. My mind gave more of a fairy tale or romantic twist to it. But getting back to valuing and having permission to use our imagination as a starting point to honor our nonphysical experiences as well as recognizing when it is pure fantasy, is really helpful when many of us have been so conditioned to discount this part of who we are. Reviewing Bruce's take on the value of imagination and following it up with you meetings OBE during the Jim Daydreams brought home again how much we can do when we allow ourselves to value this very important part of our makeup as humans. So many quotes I'd like to share, but this one I found especially helpful on page 154, “Herein lies the concept I call “opportunity for experience”. Wherever you focus your awareness, opportunity for experience in in the making and this is what Bruce means by priming the pump of imagination.” I'll get back to you further regarding my second reading. Thanks for writing this book. I'd also like to do a review on Amazon, but I want to take my time with that one and as long time fan of yours, I'm open to any suggestions on how I might help. It always bothered me that I wasn't up for proofing your book why you requested help but now I'm glad I didn't and instead became a purchaser that's now trying to support you as a legitimate writer :). Jean :-* |

Hi Jean,
Your comments are such a pleasure to see! I would absolutely appreciate it if you made a review on Amazon for me. How can you help me? You already are. Thanks for saying what you've liked and enjoyed about my book, thanking me, and for wanting to write a review. Yes, take your time and do it when you feel ready. I'm sure whatever you put there will be helpful to anyone who sees it. Your support has warmed my heart. I just recently got back from my vacation to visit Bruce and his wife. Of course it was marvelous to see Bruce and we had lots of fun, interesting talks, did some psychic experiments together, and a retrieval. I came back with the shock of going through some belief system crash stuff that I was not expecting, and Bruce helped me through it. Part of my "symptoms" were having many OBEs this week, both waking and during sleep, increased psychic and Guidance experiences, and a few big breakthroughs in things that I've been "blocked" from getting. So as Bruce pointed out, the belief system crash is of course unpleasant, but its purpose opened up a lot of my nonphysical senses. I've been doing some heavy work in integrating it in a healthy way while also trying to get myself back to feeling stable again. Belief system crashes are no picnic. It goes without saying that I have tons of writing to put down to paper now. Have to do what good I can with what I've experienced. Writing is so therapeutic for me. Thanks for enjoying my book and finding it helpful. Love, Vicky :) |

Hi Romain!
Thank you, glad you are liking it. Nope, I have not experienced seeing The Cloud again, but I know that that spirit was with us for the 4 years we lived there. |
