Hi George,
Helga is a German name (very popular from 1925 to 1940). Heigi; well, you probably mean Heidi (popular around 1940) originally a nickname for Heidrun, Heidemarie, Heidelinde and Adelheid Rutogar; one of the old forms of Rüdiger is Rutgar. It'd be very unusual for 1900 though; it was more common from 900 to 1700. (you may still find "Rutger" in the Netherlands though) Around 1900 men had names like Wilhelm, Karl, Heinrich, Paul, Otto etc. greetings, Vagabound |

This is very interesting. Even though I've never been to Germany, I have a strong connection to there. I've been learning Spanish and I pick up on language quickly but all of a sudden, I wanted to learn German.
I started buying audiobooks and downloading German podcasts on my iPod and I am picking up on the language much quicker than I am with Spanish. It could be because English is a Germanic language like German but it's very easy to me. I think I have very strong ties to Europe period. Its almost like I have this feeling that I could go over to London, Paris, and Berlin, and walk around there, and know EXACTLY where I'm going. |

Once you've discovered you like a foreign language, it's beautiful to learn it. I had this with English. It's better for song lyrics than German I find, as German is more harsh from the consonants and the way they're spoken.
Viel Spass, Spooky |
