I don't know where you live George, but a lot of public libraries would carry this movie. Look up your local library on the internet and see if they have it. If it is at another branch, libraries also allow you to arrange online to have items from other branches delivered to your branch.

Is this on topic or an off topic movie? I haven't heard of it. ;)

Hi George,

I rented it through Netflix a couple of weeks ago
(and coincidentally watched it the same day tgecks reports seeing it.)

It's definitely on target, ehr topic, Hawkeye!  It's by the same mystic that did Ghost, BrainStorm, and some other consciousness-raising films, Bruce Joel Rubin.

It uses digital animation along with photography, so there's a sense of fantasy in it but the information is purely 'afterlife.'
Good family film too altho young kids will miss some of the message.

It's available as a DVD. I got mine just about a year ago, after seeing it on British TV. The TV paper review slammed it as rubbish!  >:(
(Mind you, some of the films they rate as good are anything but... ::))

For those of you who haven't heard of the movie:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_Dreams_May_Come_(film)
Robin Williams' children are in a car accident and die. Robin Williams is in a separate car accident and dies. His wife can no longer take the grief and commits suicide. In the afterlife, Robin looks for his wife. Is she in Hell? or heaven?? Who does Robin meet on the way to find her?

Excellent interpretation of heaven/hell belief system.

I really enjoy this movie...

It makes me weep every time I watch it.

Is it 100% accurate?  Probably not.
It doesn't matter. It is closer to the truth in my view then most anything else out there.

I liked the fact that you never saw 'God'.
It was simply said: Oh...He is around..."

Everyone was helping each other...that was the point.

It was 100% accurate to the writers and the actors. This is their reality.  I throughly enjoyed it--- saw it twice over the years.  Hawkeye--- I will mail you a copy. My husband already has it ready for you.  cat

Thank you Cat. Great show. I remember seeing it now. Its very close, isn't it. I love the creation of heaven. The whole paint thing. Very funny. And in the movie there was one thing said that really connected with me. It was about creating realities in the afterlife. How you create areas with like minded others so once you are there...you are never alone unless you choose to be. There will be many of us meeting again at some time.
Thank you George. For if you hadn't have brought it up, I most likely wouldn't have been able to enjoy the show. I see now it is a totally "on topic" movie. Thanks again.
Joe

It's a good movie. I have to add, it gets quite tough in the end (not only there). It has very sad and dramatic moments. The scene with the top-down church at the end couldn't have been more impressing to express the darkness of being stuck.

I enjoyed it because there are so many types of retrievals that are profiled. Robin Williams is being retried by his doctor friend. Robin is trying to retrieve his wife. His daughter tried to be what her dad said she could be by seeing herself in another more attractive being's image. She is trying to retrieve a "beautiful" part of herself. Maybe I'll watch it again a third time and see what else I have forgotten about the story.  I remember he met some Aunt who was painting and finding a part of herself and gave him some advise. Also, I remember Robin met up with his son, but I can't recall that part of the movie.  I do remember that Robin's dog is the first being to retrieve him from his death bed and greet him when he passed.  A lot of stories in one!

Hmm, seems like "Sixth Sense", you have to watch it more than one time!
