Title: I am a crack pot!!
Post by Alan McDougall on Jul 14th, 2008 at 6:28pm
While battling to reenter the forum I visited a few scientific/physic forums.

The moment I speculated about anything, I became a crazed old crackpot.

I tried in vaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

to tell them that all great discoveries were initially considered wild speculations and if everyone took their closed box view, we would still be sitting outside our very cold caves attempting in vain to crack open a desperately needed nut.

It is nice to breathe the fresh air of real thinking people, even if we sometimes go far beyond any current thinking or perceived absolutes our truths

:) Guess you'll not be short of company here Alan!

More seriously the sort of view that develops in the spiritually more open person isn't wacky in my view, or indeed shouldn't be the result of any less rigorous a thought process.

Done right it's just one hell of a  lot less prejudiced, is based on a truer seeing, and deals not just with supposed certainties in single dimensions expressed as dogma - but as often more tentatively held intuitive, more holistic and evolving views on stuff.

There are absolute spiritual laws, but it's understood that it's often tough given the problems inherent in getting a handle on the whole picture to be certain about how exactly they apply in specific cases...

I agree Ian , but "process" is the word not stagnation.

The problem is that the majority of people, 90% or more all have the same mentality even though they all have varying ideas so when someone comes along with very different ideas, perhaps opposite to what they understand, they can't grasp it and immediately assume its wrong.

That said your confusion at them thinking you are a crackpot is exactly the same confusion they feel about you.

Don't worry Alan, many of us including myself, like cracked pots.  Sometimes the pot has to be first cracked for the water within to become truly Whole again. ;)

Haha. Well, if you bring spiritual opinions into scientific discussions on science boards, then that's what you get. :)

I did not dare to discuss spiritual concepts with them , they objected to me even speculating about science possibilities like, what came before the big bang of alternate universes etc etc??

Ah, I see. I thought perhaps that's exactly what you did. Yeah, noone knows anything about what came before, so if they thought you were crazy for speculating wildly on that subject, that's their loss. The path to understanding is riddled with accidents and crackpot thoughts. ^^

There is a fable about a cracked pot that waters the flowers around it with water it leaks, while other flowers are killed by a drought.
Bravo the cracked pot !!  :D
