Title: OoBE and nap during day
Post by PhantasyMan on Apr 18th, 2008 at 12:35pm
Dear explorers,

Few years ago, I was obsessed with the idea of having more and more real time OoBE and astral projection.  More I tried, more my results diminished.  I realized that I was wasting my time and something in me needed to be fixed.  So I put my  all efforts in self development  (mind-emotional-body awareness)  through meditations, chi kung and physical exercises.

Of course I continued to have spiritual experiences in my dreams and lucid dreams(my natural tool of exploration), when needed.  But I always tried to allow them instead of produce them.

But now, I realize that OoBE is slowly coming back in my life.  It looks like that when I do a nap during the day, and I'm not hurry, I often have dreams that are almost in physical reality, hearing conversations that occurs here (few miles away) and other interaction like hearing radio.  Also, when it ends, I partially wake up and the separation process is occurring naturally.

When my house is full of sun light, and there is outsides noises, it helps a lot.  I think it's a key, and it helps the body-consciousness to natural trigger the OoBE process.

I hope it will help!

PhantasyMan,

If I read you correctly, you have mastered the lucid dream method of OBE and are still struggling with the conscious hypnagogic sleep method of OBE. This is much more difficult to perfect and I think some of us are just born with this gift. That does not mean that if you do not intrinsically have this ability you cannot achieve it. Bruce Moen could not perfect the conscious OBE, which must contain the energy vibrations like a swarm a bees buzzing in your head a struggle to exit the body and then the fun of being awake and just directing your mind to where you want to go, and in an instant, you are there. Fly like an eagle!!

I prefer the Bruce Moen method as if does not have any physical effects like the conscious method, which in my humble view could be dangerous. I have had many many conscious "produced" OBE;s but don’t do it any more for negative reasons I have experience.

If what I say resonates with you, we can explore this topic further in your thread.

Regards

alan

Hi Phantasy Man,

I think you're absolutely correct about naps helping spiritual explorations!
Our current lifestyles are too much in high gear anyway---- or so I read in articles where they say most people these days are sleep-deprived.

A review of how people get out would be helpful !
It seems that individual variations have developed from the original methods, but the more the merrier, as long as we're not forcing  our energies.

NAPS are my worst times.
I always thought that a NAP would be a better time.
Meaning I would not be 'as' exhausted as when I sleep at night.

However, I have OBEs at night and never (to my recollection) during a NAP.

Different strokes I suppose...

I always wanted to OBE during the daylight hours....never have.

When I first began to consciously leave my body 6 years ago, just about every one of my earliest attempts and successes was during a nap.  This is more of an ideal time to leave your body than at night before sleep, for your mind will be more alert and your body less tired than at night, and yet it is still an ideal time for resting the body.  Of course, the most ideal time for OBEs is right after waking in the morning.

Phantasy Man:

I believe you touched upon an important point when you spoke about self development. If we clear up our energetic blocks by letting go of our limitations, we'll have more freedom to explore different places.  I used to have OBEs with all the effects, vibrational state etc, but now I never do.  Either I'll do similar to how Bruce does so, or I'll do so through a lucid dream.  Not that I travel a lot.

The same thing happened to me.  The first few years of my OBE practice, the exits would come with heavy vibrations and visual and audio enhancement type phenomenon.  However, these symptoms gradually faded and I have now reached the point where when I leave my body, there is almost no sensation at all rather than of floating up or rolling out, depending on the method of exit.  Of course, the feelings I have during trance still remain the same, the feelings of expansion, falling, and weightlessness.

I feel Robert Bruce is correct in his theory that the heavy exit sensations come from a lack of developement of the energy body. Because the energy body developes during OBEs, meditation, and energy work, it is only logical that the exit sensations fade as your energy body becomes more developed.

Hi Phantasy Man,

I am also trying to OOBE in the classic way for a while but no succes yet  :). I also have the impression that maybe I have to develop further  and probably I am not ready yet, even if I am not fully aware of it. So I am trying to do as much reading as possible. I am so happy that they started to translate into my language OOBe books, they started with Robert Monroe, I hope that the CD's will follow and maybe the also training coureses.
I am trying to be patient and not to lose hope that some time sooner or later it will happen.
I belive that an important thing is to have peace in your soul and not too many problems into your current life because they are kind of a blockage to experiences (at least that's valid for me).

It's true that the morning is the best time to have "interesting experinces" and they tend to occur when you don't expect them.

Good luck and don't loose hope.

I found a nap the other day after reading some a new astral travel primer, that I felt was too elementary for me...but read it anyway then fell asleep and one of my astral legs fell out of my physical body, lol, woke me up  ;D

I used to have the vibrations intensely. I liked the sensations very much as it was pleasurable. However, I'm in agreement that it is how it happens in the beginning, as I rarely experience anything like that anymore. agreeing with Robert Bruce now.

I like the phasing and it's curious. something that happened only rarely, now is happening more often and never ceases to amaze me. it's not going obe at all, it's receiving an impression.
a poster emailed me that a family member had just died, and would I check up on them? I asked spirit if I could assist this person, intention to bring comfort. I saw a woman and memorized the picture. the poster then sent me a picture of her and it was her that I had seen. The only thing that was different is the lady had dropped about 15 lbs. I didn't get much more info to pass on, however, she was visiting with him now and then and mainly wanted him to know she still lived.

love, alysia
