Title: Clipboard access??
Post by Vicky on Dec 13th, 2007 at 12:35pm
Hi Bruce or Allen,

Could you tell me why when I send a post, I get a pop-up message asking me if I would like the site to have access to my clipboard?  It says that if I say yes, it will be able to access things I've recently copied and pasted (or something to that effect).  I'm not even sure what that implication means!

But I choose "no" and the post gets sent just fine.  I'm wondering if you know anything about this and how I can kept that pop-up from coming up.

All I know is, before I hit "send" to post, I highlight and copy my writing just in case I get kicked off at that second and lose everything I just typed.  It's happened before, so I've learned to copy my writing.  However, the pop-up is something new that didn't use to happen.

Thanks,
Vicky

hi Vicki I have this occur on my new laptop doing Vista windows and I was confused too about it so I tried allowing and not allowing. I noticed on my mac, its older I don't have this popup there. so on the laptop when I allowed copy to clip board, to the right side of the screen would be a clipboard and my article title would appear there among other's articles. it looks like some sort of internet collaboration which somehow connects your article to other's blogs, and if u google afterlife knowledge conversation in a search engine, you see what others are blogging about. internet newspaper? I don't know how to set your controls to get it off.

This is a new "feature" in Internet Explorer 7, which is not specifically related to the Conversation Board software, and it has no effect on posting messages.

However, the prompt can become annoying.  Fortunately, Microsoft allows you to turn it off.   Here's how:

Go to Tools / Internet Options.
Select the "Security" tab.
Click on the "Custom Level" button.
Scroll down until you see "Allow Programmatic clipboard access".
Change that radio button from "Prompt" to "Disable".
Click the "OK" button; it will ask "Are you sure..."-- you click "Yes".
Click the "OK" button again to exit the "Internet Options" window.
