Title: Have a question about Afterlife research
Post by Nanner on Dec 12th, 2007 at 3:39pm
::) Hi my lovely - loving friends,
I have a question for all of you.

What is the best route (according to your experience) to take inorder to "research" information on the afterlife. What i am trying to figure out is, did any or all of us have a paranormal experience and then go to the library or the net and start looking it up.

How does a new person to the subject, best go about "learning the facts quickly" and effectively without reading all the "countless amounts" of bogus rabarb which is also out there to be found? Because it can really drive a person into "lonelyness" searching.

What are your ideas, what had been your best route and what caused you to "really" adhire to the information and believe it. Pls. share info.

Hugs,
Nannerghost

Hi Nanner,

Thanks for getting so much going here!

Regarding this question, the ideal starting place would be, I think, from one's own experience. Then the next step would be I think what you are asking, is to find reputable explanations for the experience.

I found Carl Jung's writings helpful and also academic studies on societies that honored intuited, mystical 'afterlife' experience. I found mystical allusions in Sanskrit-based word meanings and figured if they were willing to base their vocabulary on such experiences, that they must have been truly tuned in to the truth of it all. Charles Tart and  John Lily were also writing then and had the advantage of being insiders, people whose own experiences inspired their searches.

Fortunately back when I first sought answers (mid-century last), not so many people were writing about such subjects.  Guess I needed the crutch of having authors who had recognition for their work (even in place of their own experience.) I needed the stability of a recognized expert because my own experiences were about to blow me away!

Now I check out new websites to see how they deal with fear. If they have not overcome fear, then they are not yet masters of their own soul.

Ideally a reported 'afterlife' experience has left them with a sense of divine Love. Those are my A-list ! (and the reason I am here  :)

Love, Bets

HI Nanner-
My suggestion would be to look at some of the classics from the East. Yoga was devised as a means of uiding ignorant people like me into new and useful relationships with God. Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Patanjali's Yoga Sutras [/io]are two classics. The [i]Upanishads (including Minor Upanishads) makes another good source. Most of the traditional Tibetan writings (not necessarily recent works by American monks) like Bardo Thodol, or Longchen Rabjam's The Practice of Dzogchen, will be able to guide you.

These books will give you information that is orienting, but you'll need to develop it into your own style. Bruce's instructions for soul retrievals will get you involved with the spirit world in an active manner, and the rest will start to come together with practice.

Thanks so much to both of you, my question is beginning to take "structure".  What I am trying to get at for newbies (which I really honestly believe alot peek in) would be something like this: (I`m just not too sure in which "order" to sort them. Whats first, whats last - does it ever end?...lol..

1) identify your inclanations for wanting to know about the afterlife - the why`s....
2) beginn to ....
3) then its helpful to...
4) and so on.

Hugs 2 all,
Nanner

Good questions.
I myself have always had some sort of 'interest' in Meta-Physical/Para-Normal things.
As long as I could remember.  When I 'learned' to Speak In Tongues 30 years ago that told me 'something' is up.

Lately with in the last year the desire became stronger.  Dunno why. I had an OLD friend stop by our home a few years ago and told us about his travels in 'Astral Space'.  Very interesting and that stuck to me.  He told me all sorts of things he did.
He even 'tried' to see the President (Bush) and was stopped by someone. Astral Police?  The being was kind but very firm on how far my friend could go.  Strange eh?

About a year ago I remember waking up thinking I was having a heart attack. It was my first time (remembering wise) of having Vibrations.
Since then I searched the Net for answers and came up on all sorts of sites. Some good...a lot not so good.

I have refined my searches and come to find out a lot of these 'forums' are no different in the respect of people's EGOS.  These so-called 'Enlighten Ones' are just as Dogmatic/Religious as the people they condem.  More so in many ways.  So I read and watch out for this.

This forum is one of the best ones.  It is 'cleaner' if that makes any sense.
However one website in particular got me really going in my early research.
Link: http://www.astralvoyage.com/projection/index.html
The Lady's name is Anne and I never could figure out how to contact her and thank her. (anyone here know her and know how to contact her?)
Her explanations really helped me early on.

Since then it has been mostly Trail & Error on my part.
I have read Robert Monroe's 3 books and I am looking forward to Bruce's books this Christmas. (I know my wife bought them for me...hehe)

I would really love to scrap up 2K and try out the Monroe Institute.
That is probably not going to happen so I am left with reading books and more Trial & Error.

My lovely wife had a 'projection' or a 'Lucid Dream' recently.
She remembers vibrating and then going down a tunnel toward a swirling white light.
Then popping out in some neighborhood.
Not knowing where she was or what she was 'suppose' to do she ask for help from God.
She still doesn't really know what it was about but, she has DONE it. (maybe that was all it was...a pre-view)
I am not her crazy husband anymore...hehe!

Hi Nanner, and thank you also for the energy you bring here. I think this is an excellent question as well.

I think it wouldn't harm anyone in this world to obtain at least a minimum amount of experience in one or two methods of meditation, and to practice them for a while. I think this simply makes many ideas and experiences easier to understand, and I think it makes this world a better place to live in, for everyone involved.

I use the term meditation very broadly. In addition to a multitude of available "practices," I consider religious prayer, and contemplation of beauty in all of its forms, to be very beneficial.

We must strengthen our inner selves, our core natures, in order to comprehend this universe in the best possible light. I consider all other kinds of knowledge as simply "some thing added" to us.

love, blink :)

Thank you all for the messages - everyone of them make alot of connection.

To me it makes alot of sense to say and do exactly what you wrote right there.
For if I believe we are ONE and I strengthen my innerself, then that means I am also strengthening you.  :-? right?

No lets take that one step further, if I change my negative "thought pattern", I change yours to, to an extent, meaning the new improved Nanner thought pattern begins to take forms all around the world.  :-? right?

:-?

Yes, Nanner, I believe we help each other just exactly as you said. As they say, no man is an island, and no man or woman really stands alone.

love, blink :)
