Re: today Monday, Dec. 10---
also
the clock is three hours early when not logged in, but to some extent corrects itself when one does sign in. ?
And the whole screen shudders when I try to move from one forum to another;
And the user sign in the chatroom is running about 5 minutes late for sign-ins and then leaves name on after sign-out.

No biggies, just want you to get what's due.  :)

hey Bets how old is your mac? I had an early model, used to shudder all the time, also I crashed a lot, sorta got used to crashing. got an osx 10.3 powerPC 128 memory now but 2003 model, been told by daughter, I'm out of date again!
story of my life.
the clock is ok, but the puter didn't know that I moved it to Arizona, we don't do time changes in this part of the western time. across the street is Nev. cross the other street, lol, you're in Ca, drive down my street, you're in AZ.

Bets, I always see you are in the chatroom. I even talked to you there several times with no luck. sent you private pm from there. nothing.
one time I did talk to PhantasyMan in the chatroom, so I think it's your computer not getting it, the messages. but I do see your name up in there about three times now..I thought she must be there, but she's probably jumped up to do something. so I wait. nothing.

don't run out and get another puter on my sake....if I had my way I'd never update. but I'm thinking of the new Leopard mac update, have to study up on it a bit. I thought I'd have to get a new monitor, but not so, just upload like a new interface.
maybe the univ code Dave was talking about or Vista for mac?

confusing isn't it? love, alysia

Hi Allan,

On a PM, Alysia and I continued this talk. She said there's a drop down menu that comes down in the chatroom.  I've never seen a drop-down menu so I never check out on it. Should I change something on my mac to get such a menu?

Thanks for all you do, which is more than I can possibly imagine!

Regarding the time zone, I think the board is in Central time if you are not logged in; then it takes the time zone settings of whatever you have saved in your profile.

As for the chatroom.  It is a Flash application, so it shouldn't matter if it is a Mac or PC.  I don't have a Mac to test with and I'm not sure what the drop down is you are referring to.  Perhaps you could arrange a time to chat with someone else on the board that has a Mac and see if they can help.

If you hit the "X" in the top-right corner of the chat window to logout, it should register your logout immediately.  Also, I think you can type /quit in the chat box, and it will register your logout immediately.

hi bets, the menu on mine, is located near the chat box in the corner of left bottom side. is not looking like a menu until you actually click on it. I think it's next to some other menu buttons like the place to choose your script color, and the happy faces, etc. if we pick a time I could come in there with you and test things out. love, alysia
we should consider you are 3 hours difference in our time zones, I think thats why I was confused where u went to...

Same here. When switching between topics, took crazy long time, then it booted me. Then after re-login the IE tells me "permission denied".. the rest of the night.

Sorry for the inconvenience.  The hosting company was reacting to what they believe was a security problem, allowing spammers to use this site for bulk e-mail advertising.  We are working with them to get this resolved, so hopefully, it won't happen again.

Allan, still very slow today on all boards. Was better before 9:00 am Pac time but has now slowed to a snails pace.

Thanks Bruce and Allan for letting us know what's going on.  It's a shame this has happened, but I hope it doesn't turn into too huge a problem for you to fix.  Good luck.  Wish we could do something to help.

Thanks.  You were probably witnessing the transition of a server move.  The gibberish  was chat system couldn't connect to the MySQL database to get user count.  The hosting company moved us onto a new server.  Response time seems a lot faster to me...but that may be wishful thinking...we'll see.
