Title: Bruce's absence Post by pratekya on Nov 28th, 2007 at 2:19pm
Greetings -
I was wondering where Bruce is and what he's up to. In some post I think I saw Alysia write that he is in Costa Rica? The reason why I'm wondering is that I have read his books, and am intrigued by what he has to say, and its too bad he doesn't add to the discussion more often. I'm guessing he's busy, and that posting does require time and energy. He's a great writer though with a lot to contribute. I'm not trying to complain here its just more of a wishing that he would be a bit more involved kind of thing. |

Pratekya:
I believe Alysia wrote that Bruce moved to Puerto Rico, which is sort of like Costa Rica, except it's spelled differently. There might be some other differences but I don't remember what they are. I got it from a good source that Bruce doesn't post here because he loves to to see what ensues when threads like this are started. The ironic thing is that there is another afterlife forum other than his own, that he takes part in on a daily basis. I'd tell you which forum, but he doesn't want any of us visiting there. Just kidding, just kidding about all of the above except the Puerto Rico part. Right now Bruce is up to his ears in rice and beans. :) "Pass the sofrito please." |

Hi All,
It's true, Pharon and I have moved to a little town on the west coast of Puerto Rico. We have the majority of things unpacked that we have room for in the place we're renting. Our plan is to rent this place until next Spring and then if we still love it here start looking for a place to buy. Moving has been a big change and the culture shock is an interesting challenge to old beliefs and ways of living. We now live on what is called "island time," for example. The pace of life here is unhurried even when it would seem that a little hurrying would be a good idea. Example, the department of transportaion's computer system went down in late October of this year. No one on the island could get a driver's license, new or renewed, no license plates for cars or registration stickers, no automobile sale or purchase could be recorded, to get the title for a purchased vehicle could not be done. A little over four weeks later, three days ago, the computer system was finally back up and running. The newspapers say it will take over a month to work through the back log. In Colorado, where we use to live such an outage would have been met with outraged citizens making lots of noise. Here, folks just said, Well it's down, these things happen, when it gets fixed we'll be able get things done. It took a month longer than expected for us to reopen the online bookstore. I guess maybe living on island time agrees with me. The weather forecast is for daytime highs in the mid to high 80s for the next five months or so. The ocean temperature was about 87 degrees two days ago and probably will stay that way at least until June. Back in Colorado it was freezing cold today, oh well, we don't live there any more so I guess we'll just have to live with warm, sunny weather until about June and then will get a little warmer. As we settle in I hope to be able to spend a little more time here at the Forums. Good to be back, Bruce |

That sounds nice Bruce. Glad you are getting settled in anyway.
I just wiki-ed Puerto Rico as I wasn't sure exactly where it was - it says the national motto is "His name is John" - a bit cryptic! |
