Trouble I think with Nostradamus Juditha is that they have been publishing predictions based on his prophecies for twenty years and more and getting it wrong. And consequently pushing the revisions just far out enough into the future to maintain interest. I've a book on a shelf from the mid 90s here that says that Europe should have been over-run by hordes from the east by now. Ditto for the Bible code books.

There may well be a code that unlocks Nostradamus. He may well be on the nail. The events may be possibilities and not bound to happen, or else may happen but not quite when expected. But who knows???

:-/ That I'm not at all keen on the noises coming from the Bush administration and the sabre rattling going on in the Middle east these days....

Hi Vajra- That rattling noise is the East getting ready to overrun us, perhaps.

I hope that we've done with the foolishness of war for a while, but human stupidity and greed being as they are, until the karmic consequences become evident, I suspect that we'll still be at risk.

I recall a very nice analogy from the '60s - that we're all in a little bitty lifeboat, we can't get off (unless you want to live on the Moon or Mars) and we have people playing with explosives, any of which could sink us.

I don't want to take sides, Juditha, but I notice that the greatest damage is most often done by people who urgently are seeking to do good. In Roman times, it was necessary to get rid of the terrible rabble rousers called Christians who threated the Roman pagan state - And the Inquisition certainly was a collection of people who were "doing good" by keeping our religious heritage pure -
just as the settlers in Salem were "doing good" by getting rid of all those pesky witches and healers - and of course Mr Bush is "doing good" by saving the Iraqis from the inconvenience of a tyrannical leader who imposed law through force of arms - while the ayatollas and mullas are "doing good" by sending the young people out to be suicide bombers, and the Israelis respond by "doing good" as they demolish Lebanon and bomb Syria - and then we have Darfur ... etc - So much good being done in the world. As someone once put it, you can't have a war unless both sides are right. Gotta have those do-gooders.

I'm not sure that we can withstand all these "forces of good".

Lao Tse simply told us, about 3000 years back, that when the government does the least, the people prosper the most. Siddhartha pointed out that the suffering in life is because of getting attached to things, relationships and activities that don't work. Plato observed that those least qualified to govern are the one who seek power, while those who are most competent know enough to stay away. Jesus suggested that all we need to do is to love our neighbors as ourselves, how simple. Mohammed clearly said that all who believe in a single God are of the same ultimate faith, and that all monotheists, and in particular Jews and Christians, ought to be loved and respected.

You'd think that someone would get the message.

I'll go along with what Dave wrote.   Intent + fear - love = war, no matter who one claims to be representing. No wonder, I never cared much for math. Especially higher math that includes the principle of justification. The solution supposedly justifies whatever variables are thrown into the mix. The number "one" seems so much better, even when a whole bunch of us use it.

I remember as a child sitting in a protestant church in California watching a movie that scared me to death. It was about the end times and the Mark of the Beast. It showed massive floods, earthquakes and mushroom clouds from nuclear weapons.

The "Mark" was something that was just starting to be used: bar codes.

There are always people seeking money and a name for themselves through fear mongering.

Rob

Btw, the King James translation of the Bible is one of the more inaccurate. It's the most poetic but if I were trying to prove something I'd use a better one.

Political Math R? - Actually it seems to be very simple - First we decide on the answer, then we propose a way to get there. If we don't like what that seems to add up to, we add or subtract whatever is needed to make the figures come out even, and hide the computation. Then if we get caught at it, we blame someone else, and pass the problems to the next administration, a tactic commonly known as our "exit strategy".

Juditha - I notice the presence of a lot of images of a buffalo in that U-Toob thingy while it was talking about a horny lamb. I'd say it's just a bum steer.

Dave:

I like that hide the computation thing. Even when somebody such as General Richard Clarke splits the scene and speaks about them, they never happened.

Maybe that's what the big buffalo image is for - to hide that fact that it's a lot of bull.
