Title: No awareness of dreams, what's wrong?
Post by pulsar on Jul 27th, 2007 at 6:42am
Hi everyone.

I wonder if you could help me with my little problem, or at least give me some information if you have /had
experienced something alike.

For 1 1/2 years I have no awareness of any dream that i had (or had not, i do not know) at all, which frightens me a lot.

I know, that dreaming happens while we are sort of unconscious, while sleeping. Psychology tells us (at least the ones who follow Freuds path) that during sleep, so to say in dreams, the brain reflects "events", that happened to us before we fell asleep, so if one analizes the dream, he could find "links" between what we were dreaming and what happened to us while being awake. Be it in irreal circumstances (i think of symbolism), or in sceneries, that we feel they have to be real (i would state them as revelation).

But even if it is like this, I have always remembered at least bits of what I was dreaming (I have to add, that I so far had not that much experience with dreams that reveal for example divinity or even transcendent creatures (spirits, ghosts).

For example as I was child (about 7 years old) I had two dreams, that appeared many times, in one, I got shot in the back by a cowboy in a desert, in the other dream my bed was lifted up and got more and more unbalanced, so I was afraid of falling down from it (sometimes i fell down and woke up while "crashing down" on my body lying on my bed). I remembered the dreams when I woke up, they frightened me even during "everyday life".

But to me it seems a little bit strange, that I have no awareness of dreams during the last 1 1/2 years, not even little extracts from them.

I have no explanation for this, and I feel if it is kind of unnormal.

Looking forward to get your answers  :)
