C.Y. Fan and James Van Allen 'discovered' the belt of radiation around the Earth that is now known as the Van Allen belt.
If it had been named for the other fellow, earth would have had a Fan Belt. :D

We could honor both ones and the name wouldn't change much, "Fan Allen Belt" :) .
