Title: Morality: built into the brain? Post by Boris on May 30th, 2007 at 5:41pm
This article describes how it was found using brain scans that some
moral types of response come from the lower instinctive parts of the brain, rather than from the higher parts which handle abstract thinking. That is, some moral response is hard wired in by evolutionary processes. This has been a theme for me, that morality originates on Earth, among group animals and humans, because that is where it is needed, but is processed up into heavens and stored there. So this article is a major breakthrough for me, because it reinforces what I have been thinking. Like, it is nice to see the evidence to support my paradigm dropping into place after I have written it. The article also discusses how instinctive moral behavior is lacking in some individuals. This has been something I have puzzled over often. I know people like this, and have wondered about the way that I and the people of this forum are different from them. I was able to read page 1 and 2 of the article without registering in the Washington Post. But when I wanted to go back to page 1 after reading page 2, then the form came up wanting me to register before I could continue. They wanted to know my email address, zip code, age, gender, occupation, size of the firm I work for, and some of my interests, in order to register. I did register, begrudging the time it took, but grateful for the article nevertheless. I suppose you might copy and paste the article as you read each page, without registering, if you do that without returning to the previous page the way that I did. Dont know if that would work. I copied and pasted the second page without having registered, but then wanted to copy the first page also. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/27/AR2007052701056.html |
Title: email Post by Boris on May 31st, 2007 at 2:23pm
When I registered for the Washington Post , I checked that I was
interested in politics and technology. This morning I received an email for each of these subjects with 7 to 10 headlines listed for each. These headlines gave me access ti the Washington Post on line, so I could read the listed article. These were interesting reading, but I read in the small print that the Washington Post reserved the right to charge for this service at some future date. |
