Title: Is there an afterlife for animals?
Post by tmerc8 on Jan 31st, 2007 at 6:42pm
I was a frequent visitor here years ago and even though my question is not related to humans I hope there was someone here who could help me out.

My beloved cat, Suessy died this morning.  It was very sudden and he had shown no signs of being ill.  He was having trouble breathing so I took him to the vet.  He died within 10 minutes.   His heart muscle had started to harden and his lungs filled with fluid.  He was seven years old and I am grief stricken.  I loved that cat more than any other animal I have ever had.  I won't go into details about how wonderful this creature was to me and my family because I can't get all my thoughts together at this time.

I was wondering if anyone can shed some light onto what happens to animals when they pass into the afterlife?  My biggest concern in that he is lonely and scared.  Can anyone help me out with my concerns?

Is it possible for animals to get 'lost' when they pass over?

Welcome, tmerc..

Last night I had a disconcerting dream about animals..see  http://www.afterlife-knowledge.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1170240712that link..

I think animals are in the afterlife.  I've had many beloved pets pass on and I find it hard to believe they just cease to exist..just my opinion, of course.

If it has life in it, it has soul essence in it too. They have eternal soul essence like we do is the understanding i have.

Greetings tmerc8,

Many of us have had a pleasant visit or sign from our deceased pets long after they passed away, so I believe they are in a safe place.
If you are concerned about Suessy you could send thoughts and thought-pictures--mental images--using your imagination or mental telepathy to do it. Try not to feel too sad when you do this, so that Suessy will always think of the happy times you two shared.

Is there an afterlife for animals?

Interesting question, yes i believe so, but let me twist things around for a moment (not directly related to this topic).  It has occured to me that people tend ask a question like this, assuming that the afterlife was created or manifested by the physical world, like its an attribute of the physical world?

Maybe its completely the other way around?  Maybe animals, plants, people, all existed first in the afterlife (nonphysical) before the physical Earth was even manifested, and then the physical became manifested out of these originally nonphysical patterns?  When i was younger, i use to think of the physical earth as the center in a sense, and then the nonphysical as something which emanated from the physical.  I think i had it backwards maybe...

Hope you feel better.  I'm sure you will be able to communicate with your beloved Suessy at some point.  I don't think animals get stuck like we do, cause they are pure expressions of the God force.  So i doubt he is lonely and scared, he's probably hanging out with some good friends, just like what happens to us when we phase into the nonphysical.

Hello tmerc8,

I had an experience at the age of 15 that might give you some peace of mind and possibly some insight that we can bat around awhile if you like.

I turn the corner of my block on the way home from school one day, a very normal day. I started looking for the stray cat that befriended me and I thought it was strange that he was not in his normal location just before my walkway as he was almost every day. So I thought oh I guess he is not comming today and I felt sad. More sad than I should have and I knew it.

I shrugged it off and continued on my way. When I walked into the courtyard much to my delight he was there greeting me in his usual loving maner, but this was the first time he waited inside the court.  We sat on the porch, he purred and rubbed all over my legs. I pet him, held him and talked to him. Probably complained about my day, you know 15 and all. After about 10 min I told him I had to go in now and he pranced away and I went into the house.

My mother was standing at the end of the entrance way. By the look of her I knew something bad was coming. She informed me that she had taken "that mangy stray cat" to the pound and had it put to sleep. I looked at her in disbelief and then laughed telling her that I was just outside with him. She looked at he in horror and walked away.

Needless to say I felt a little numb. I knew then in my heart of hearts that she had indeed had him killed and that our "afternoon visit" was special. What a beautiful gift he gave to me. I still draw on that from time to time when I need a little strength.

When we give animals our love they love us back completly and love goes on and on and ....

I supose it is possible for some animals to get "lost" but think about it...I am guessing that he was very happy and deeply loved. Wouldn't this alone put him in a beautiful state of mind? Wouldn't that kind of peace send him on his way with no fear?

I don't think you have anything to worry about regarding his safety and happiness. It seems to me that he would seek out the kind of beautiful love he had known and besides animals have a keen sense of direction.

I feel for your loss. Each love is different so I don't know exactly how you feel, but I too have suffered the loss of a beloved. I am sending you love to spark your energy flow.....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

With much love,   Stacy

I would like to thank everyone for their kind words.

This one in particular:

Suessy is beautiful..we have a domino who my son named Baby...and my BIL calls Tom.  He's HUGE..and now blind in one eye, with a cataract..but quite sweet.

We currently have three cats, two fish and a deaf dog.

tmerc8,

I am so glad I was some comfort to you. Suessy is beautiful and so content.  Keep sending him your love. I know it is very hard now but try to separtae your grief as you do not want to  send him that. At a time when you are more relaxed he will be able to send you a sign...for he loves you as much as you love him, perhaps even more...animals are so pure.

I think I may have gotten as much out of this as you did. As I see it every opportunity to help is an opportunity to learn. So I set up an experiment last night. When I read your post I was moved and felt the need to reach out to you. I set my intent to help ease your suffering and to help you not feel so alone in your grief. I asked my guides for their assistance. Last night I kept waking up sobbing. Now I have to ask you a peculiar question...Did you have a visitor or a sensation of not being alone in your dreams last night. I know strange question...but it may be relevant. I will explain later.

Stacy

Stacy, to be honest with you I barely slept at all last night.  I think I finally fell asleep around 5AM and slept until around 9AM.  I can't remember any dream details but I do know that before I awoke this morning that I had a very calm and confident feeling settle over me.  Maybe your guides did indeed help me.  I just wish I could remember more.  Perhaps I will be able to sleep better tonight and retain more of my dreams to share with you tomorrow.

Seussy meant more to me than I'll ever be able to repay him for.  I have had my battles with depression and I can remember a particular time when I felt like Seussy was my only friend.  He was there for me unconditionally and it was like he understood me.  Strange as that sounds.

Interesting sidenote:

Last Friday and Saturday night I woke up feeling very claustaphobic.  It was like I was having trouble breathing even though I didn't feel a need to gasp for air.  It was a very odd feeling, one that I cannot remember having before.  Now that I look back on those two nights I can't help but feel that maybe I was experiencing what Seussy was feeling.  (He essentially died from fluids in his lungs and not being able to breath) I wonder if there was some sort of an Elliot/E.T. type connection.  Since he's passed away that feeling as left.  I can't explain it and I hope I'm not crazy.  Is it possible for pets and their owners to share a 'soulmate' type connection?

Suppose my pet happens to be a dolphin.  Are we saying that the afterlife also contains fish?  If so, do they swim around in some sort of water environment?  After all, we imagine that our pet dog or cat, after they die, are happily romping around just as they did while alive.  Stands to reason my pet dolphin would be swimming somewhere.

I wonder how I would recognize my dolphin friend.  They all pretty much all look alike.

You'd recognise your friend by how it feels when you see them... Same way any of us reading this thread can recognise the feeling tones of each specific post.

Likewise, how do you recognise love in another? By feeling it in yourself... right?

I had a cat die some time ago. He was just a bundle of love, he radiated it. He used to sleep underneath the covers, curled up next to my chest.

After he died, I felt his presence at night, curled up next to my heart.

I would melt as I fell asleep, tenderness and longing and a deep appreciation for having had the little guy in my life for that brief period, feeling all that as I went into Dreamland....

tmerc8,
I believe animals die just like we do... they don't disappear. They just lose physical form and continue on.

Your cat continues on, still emanating love still recieving love.

He remembers you.

Much love to you and Suessy,

                 Tim F.

tmerc8,

As long as you recieved comfort I consider it time and energy well spent.

I don't think you need to "repay" him, his love was given freely. Perhaps you can honor him by passing along the things he taught you to someone else in need. That might make him smile. You know as well as I do that after a special moment when you look into their eyes they are smiling on the inside...you can see it.

I have had times of depresion myself, that is a hard pit to crawl out of if you let it take you over. I am not your beloved Suessy but I am here for you when you feel the need to set your thoughts free. (If posting on the board makes you feel to exposed  you can go to members profile and get my email address). For me that keeps the "pit" from getting to deep. And remember none of your thoughts or feeling are silly or strange. They are what they are and they belong to you. You can deal with them one at a time or whatever rate suits you. Just make sure you deal with it and in the end you will probably be even better for it.

As far a soulmate connection with animals...I have no idea. The more I learn the more I realize that impossible is not an idea we should ever use.

Now I am going to go to work on some of my "issues" oh yes there are many. Some of the members here have given me some excelent advice and guidelines to work through what only a few days ago seemed to be mind blowing issues. Together we are much stronger. So when a hand is offered to you take it without the need to repay you will be given an opportinity to pass it on at a later date and then do so. The results may surprise you.

Much love,  Stacy

Yes our beloved animals are on the other side!  My dog has come through many readings, and my daughter who passed I have been told takes care of animals that have been mistreated here, over there! They are energy just like us!

Hi tmerc8  suessy is being loved very much in the spirit world and is definetly not alone as there is a hall of animals for domesticated animals who are all together and are given love, also family that have passed to spirit will also look after suessy,i have learnt this through mediums and also a book ,which a medium wrote from communicating with spirit.

I know how much it hurts losing suessy as i lost my darling little dog sooty after 15 yrs through heart trouble, but i find comfort knowing that he is being loved and is not lonely in the spirit world and one day when it is your time to go to spirit ,you will be reunited with suessy.

I go to the spiritualist church every week and have learnt so much about spirit and i am practising in circle to be a medium someday.

Love and God bless     Love Juditha

Just one little note, Rondele..dolphins aren't fish, they are air breathing mammals.
