Title: People you know in your dreams Post by Traveler on Jan 30th, 2007 at 1:43pm
I dream several dreams through the night and only remember bits and pieces of each. Most times they're lucid and every now & then I remember most of one dream. My main question is about the friends and people you know that show up in your dreams. Do you suppose these people have some spiritual connection with you and we're drawn to each other? There are several people I know who show up in my dreams regularly who I don't necessarily see or have any regular contact with. Is there something to learn from/with them? Is that a question I should ask guides or higher self? A couple of people I had a falling-out with but not all who appear in my dreams. Would they still appear if there were ill feelings between us? What would be the reason? Is it dependent on the individual circumstances with each person?
I had a very lucid dream several years ago in which Eddie Van Halen and I were out driving around having fun until Valerie decided it was time for Eddie to go home. We parted ways like old friends. Now, I like his music, have Van Halen CDs, I don't recall even listening to the music anytime during the day, or seeing him on TV. I certainly don't know him or Valerie. While writing this something popped into my head. A buddy of mine from my military days grew up in LA. He and I were best friends back then. He told me once he used to see Van Halen performing at parties in the LA area when he was in High School. A possible connection to 20 years ago? Maybe? Who knows? What's everyone's views on the original question? |

Hi! I can't answer all your questions but I can offer this...
I believe that some dreams of people we know only hold meaning by representing what that person means to us or how that person makes us feel, etc. For instance, you might dream of a particular person because they remind you of something or represent a part of your life, thus they are symbolic of something. (Where the information doesn't have anything to do with that person, but instead is symbolic for something about you). I also believe we have "dreams" involving another person in which that person's consciousness is actually participating in the dream with you. (Like an OBE). I also believe there are dreams we can have involving someone where that person's consciousness is not actually involved in the dream with you, but what you are dreaming about them is real information about that person. (The dream is symbolic but it is true information about the person you are dreaming about. I've had dreams like this, where when I analyze the dream to my best guess, it turns out later that I find out my interpretation is true about that person! But to take the dream literally it wouldn't make sense). Your main question was do these people in our dreams have a spiritual connection to us...yes, I do believe we have many dreams like that, where people come visit us or we go to them. |

Vicky, Thanks, I guess the hard part is figuring out what the real connection is. I kinda feel there's some need by either party or both parties for the connection especialy if a person makes multiple appearances either in a recurring dream or in several different dreams. |

So do you feel you've had dreams where this particular person's consciousness is actually visiting you? Can you tell what sets these types of dreams apart from regular-type dreams? It is my belief that for those experiences that feel like real visits, that it is beneficial to both participants and a mutual agreement to meet. What do you mean by what the real connection is, the reason for meeting? I believe we meet "out there" to chat, or make plans for the physical, or just to check in with each other from time to time. There's probably all sorts of other reasons too.

I get this feeling when someone shows up unexpectedly in a lucid dream and I recognize their behavior doesn't follow my thoughts, is totally independent. I do think that maybe there is a specific purpose for their input. Quote:
Speaking more towards people I know but rarely have any contact with. What ties this person to me? What connects us? What brings us together whether an old friend or former coworker. It's more of a search for why they are still in my life so-to-speak after their physical interaction in my life is past. Maybe there's more to learn from them, maybe they're needing something from me. Just speculating. Maybe I'm just overthinking it. And maybe they're just stopping by to say hello. |

Greetings traveler,
Certainly it's never wrong to ask your own Guidance about any issue that effects your spirit. Even if you can't hear their answer clearly, you may feel within your own system a relaxation or flow after you ask your question. That shows you're on the right track even if the issue is not totally resolved. These people are in your dreams for a reason, for sure, whether it's emotional, symbollic (maybe emotion involved here too but less apparent), maybe even their name or face is a reminder of something else. A small addition to Vicky's list is that some names are puns for the issue to be dealt with. Maybe you were driving in a van, hailing old friends. :) Then it could be a signal that the old friend(s) are thinking of you and you of them--maybe time to look them up? Of course, you already came up with that meaning using a different approach. Sounds like Guidance has found a good way to get in touch with you, through your dreams! Bets |

Betson,
Quote:
Something hit me square between the eyes when I read this. At the time the friend from LA and I were running around together he drove a brown chevy van. It was a 70s style custom, mild not elaborate with murals and such. I had a custom mini truck all decked out inside (in the style of a custom van). When ever we went somewhere he usually drove as there was more passenger room in the van. I can't believe I never made that connection! Quote:
Now if I'd just pay attention! me banging my head against a wall ;D |

Yay, traveler!
That's a good sign, the banging head! ;) Not too hard though. But this dream has become on your mind now, so now's a good time to pick up where you left off. Is there some way you can seek out those folks from 20 years ago who you thought were connected so you can go 'hail' them now? Go for it, Traveler! Best wishes, Bets |

there have been occassions where psychics will enter a scene of people unknown to them and next day read in the newspaper that what was witnessed actually happened.
then there is the reaccuring dream where you've never really met this person in physical reality but only in the dream and they always do something off the wall so you know you're not inventing it. then theres ex lovers, or friends you've moved away from. there might have been a disagreement. in these types of dreams, they come to me to show me how they have moved on from a former problem they had and they would seek approval or they would express gratitude, or something emotional occurs which causes my response. then theres people in my dreams who are showing me how to so something, instructing me with something. I never know these, but call them guides. :) |
