Title: Various intelligences within ourselves Post by betson on Jan 17th, 2007 at 12:27pm
Greetings you all,
On anther thread we were talking about whether an aspect of our soul or spirit can appear as an entity in order to explain things to us. the centers for each of these aspects might be the chakras. So I expanded the question below--- Do you think, or have you read in various religions, that each chakra has enough knowledge that the human mind could dialogue with any of them? (That's for those of us who don't have the self-knowledge to know what the heck they're busy doing or how they feel about how the rest of our being is going.) Would their form of identity be determined by their own 'purpose', like the kundalini serpent/ goddess and the heart-man, or could we get them more involved in dialgue by imposing a name and form for each, like Sunny the Solar Plexus, maybe a songbird for the throat, etc? :) Do you believe (or have read) that each chakra is a portal to one of the subtle energy bodies? Have you noticed any situations where one chakra is almost unconscious of what the others are doing, almost completely detached from the over-mind that 'controls' or organizes the others? Any thoughts on these will be greatly appreciated! Bets |

I don't know the whole story on chakras, but my feeling is that they are connected to each other and don't represent separate selves. It seems like they serve functions, and represent how our energy gets distributed. For example, that which allows us to see non physically, exists at the third eye area.

Let's see, IMPO;
Chakras function as intake organs for energy form the ULE (Universal Life Energy) field, also call the Universal Health field all around us. The energy taken in and metabolized through each chakra is sent to the part of the body located in the major nerve plexus area closest to each. This energy is very important for the healthy functioning of the auric field and the physical body, in eastern tradition that energy is called the prana, or chi. If a chakra stop functioning properly the intake will be disturbed.meaning the body organs served by that chakra will not get their needed supply, if it continues normal functioning of the organs and other body parts will weaken as will its immune defenses and eventually disease will occur in the body. Can we dialogue with those centers? i would say yes otherwise how can we heal ourself? Form of indentity determined by their function? Yes again.Not sure about giving them specific names like Blue Beard for the throat chakras. :) And yes it is a portal to out subtle energy body. I had one and maybe more now that i think of it disassociate with the rest, took me a while to get it working and clean to the specific red color that it was supposed to be. So i did have to communicate with it through meditation and clean it up, so you can talk to them... 8-) And of course this is my personal opinions and experiences, it's always up to the individual to find out what works best for himself/herself. But i may ad that my personal journey thrugh that red chakras was something else, you feel like you are in intense fire ! Darn good questioning Bet and hoping it will get others to look deeply into those energy centers that we all have, and communicate with it/healing/cleaning them they do need a cleaning too.. ;) With love, Romain |

I agree with Romaine. When we start doing intense pranayama for kundalini, and in a few other instances, there is a sense of the various chakras "lighting up", rather like power sub-stations along an electrical distribution route. The spine seems like a massive conductor in which energy flows. Also, the "petals" seem to move, a sensation as if they are opening. In this sense, the chakras appear to correspond to levels of energy development and regulation. Doubtless this is why they tend to relate on a one-to-one basis with other people's chakras. A well-known body worker (whose name I have forgotten) terms these connections "cording", and she emphasizes that they can be either useful or draining, depending on how the connections are made.
If you get really curious about your chakras, they make a great meditation target. There are supposed to be a specific number of "petals" or "spokes" to each chakra ("spokes", because the word chakra means wheel ) and it is possible to trace out every one of them. The ones around the heart and throat are relatively complicated, but they can all be found with a little effort. If you look in different references, you may find that the number of chakras varies with different traditions. In general, Tibetan, Chinese and Taoist traditions lump the top two and bottom two chakras together, giveing a total of five. Indian and Western traditions usually use seven. And occasionally you hear eight, when the manipura and kundali chakras are viewed as being two separate structures. The kundali chakra (whichis where Kundalini is rooted) is the lower half at the navel region in which we deal with spontaneous energies, while manipura is just above it and deals with intended energies and control. I like your suggestion that chakras might take on an activity of their own. The usual explanation is that we focus on and and through the chakra to take on a specific personality quality. Thus, the most obvious is probably the lower two chakras and our tendency toward becoming absorbed in sexuality when they are stimulated. I had always thought of this in the sense of a white light (personality) shining through a chakra-colored filter, but to suggest that the chakra itself is the active mechanism makes sense, both in terms of how it feels when we take on a powerful attitude, and also the connections to others that selectively reflect that attitude. Hi Betsi...I first started thinking about what chakras were back in the 60's but basically it was just a word to think about until I had a few experiences which placed a few images to be like seed thoughts over the year.
I started doing laying on of hands, taught by a spiritualist church in the 60's. you're supposed to listen to spirit where to place your hands but to be safe, I liked to use the top of the head and let spirit pull the energy down where it wants to as I figured spirit can be more specific than my brain. one time my kid had a headache and I was tired of laying hands on them so I told her to learn it herself, to see the energy going into the location of the pain and taking it away. had no idea she would be successful. she came running into the room all excited. she was 10 or 11. she said I DID IT! she said mommy a little door opened, I saw a little door open between my eyes and then my headache went away! my chest expanded about 9 yards for her with motherly pride. so theres the 3rd eye chakra portal most times stays shut in a normal life unless you start working the spiritual areas of service, oneness, reflection, etc. and this is a feeling there of clicking sometimes, or a feeling of energy, chi, life force can be felt there and the consciousness can use it like a current for out of body explorations. but I don't know about considering the chakras to be separate entities, thats like dividing something up rather than unifying everything into one. the ideal situation for ascension or maximum velocity is to visualize them all spinning in the proper direction at the same rate of vibration (trust) (love) at the same time. youth will have the number one chakra of creativity spinning to propagate the species and they don't necessarily need to do kundalini exercises early on, as it's a natural process that one by one they all eventually spin in harmony or in their own time in their own journey of lifetimes. it's not necessarily, except for ascetic monks and so on to be concerned too much with chakra activity other than quiet reflection on each area of the body it represents to know thyself. we can talk to our bodies, as the consciousness is there and responds to a command or a feeling of love. I started by talking to cells in my body or a pain and it usually told me what I'd done to injure it. dialogue..try it! love, alysia |

Thank you so much,
Dear recoverer, romain, dave a_mbs, and laughingrain, You've taken care of my concern, so I go now to work on my pain, and hopefully won't have to bother you again! ( ;)Bet that limerick is an example of why we don't have a Poetry and Creative Arts Section on this site. :D ) Love, Bets |
