Title: Brazillian belief only?
Post by betson on Jan 14th, 2007 at 10:53pm
Greetings,

Is anyone here acquainted with the belief described by Kardec that a small entity, perhaps a miniature version of one's soul, resides in or near the human heart?
Is it the intelligence center of our emotional subtle energy body? Is it recognized by any religion outside of the Brazillian one Kardec refers to?

I'm interested in finding out more about it's behavior, whether it can communicate, whether it can invite in others such as one's 'soulmate,' etc.  I recently had an 'image-inary' conversation with an entity that claimed to be one.

Any information or leads appreciated.
Bets

Hi Bets

I have heard of this as well.  The small person is called the 'Mannekin' and is said to symbolise the new birth of the person who is seeking eternal truth.  In some wonderful pieces of art one will find the Mannekin portrayed at the end of a stick. The stick is pointing vertical showing the person holding the stick has a connection between the earth to the sky.  The Mannekin is shown as a small person (looking the same as the larger person) at the end of the stick pointing up, symbolising the person has given birth to his or her inner self.

A lovely subject.

I don't know more that what's been posted, but my take would be that it's a metaphorical take on heart energy.  I think having an imaginary conversation with it as a personified metaphor might be a helpful way to get more in touch with that energy.  I'd be curious as to what any conversations you have with it are like. My guess is that Rob is right - If you look into Surat Shabd Yoga and actually get into the processes, the transcendentl state occurs through placement of the awareness in the physical heart. It's a fantastic sensation. The same information can be found in the Upanishads, but not in much detail. The sound current in the ears changes into a gong sound corresponding to the heartbeat. This is similar to the energetic experiences of kundalini, but in a different chakra.

I'm inclined to think that this is the suggested association with the "man in the heart" idea.

Greetings,

Thank you very much for these ideas and comparisons. They do all seem to be different culture's ways of pointing out the same thing.
Having a complete figure as that chakra's intelligence metaphor is probably better than just a head or brain, especially when talking with it.  ;)  No one's remarked on why it would be male while I'm female, so guess you don't see that as unusual, since it is a metaphor for intelligence  :D. It could be androgynous, I suppose.

I've dialogues with it/him a couple of times, Rob. He said there were a couple of other figures with him.  They are holographic-like and stay to connect me with my strongest loves, one, my other soul-half / soul-mate ( with whom we come into our series of incarnations, in my belief system anyway) and another, an ethereal lover with whom I've experienced bliss.

Soul-mates were a belief I rejected for a long time so I asked 'heart-man' about it. His take on it was it's true (since I now believe it?), and he told me about mine since I haven't been with him for about four lifetimes and won't for a couple more. I then asked to meet soul-mate and shortly I could see him as I assume he is in this life. I startled s-m by asking questions about how he was doing, and eventually he answered a couple while muttering that he must be going loco. As his image faded his answers came more directly and then we did that soul-meld where two merge into one as sort of a field of electrified jello. (I would prefer descriptions from 19th C
poetry but so many guys read this I didn't want to alarm them.  :) )

I notice I'm overly gender-sensitive in this post but I'm talking about what's in my heart. You all and this site have made it possible to talk about soul and spirit, but I just found that heart still a protected area.   :)

So dave_a_mbs, does every chakra have the possibility of an intelligence figure that we can talk with?

Love you all,
Bets

That's fascinating Betson.  Thanks for the description.  Because the subject is heart energy it doesn't surprise me that the figure would be the opposite gender.  I'd see that as similar to Jung's anima/animus figure where we experience the archtypal opposite gender.

Uh, and as to having an ethereal lover -- sounds very interesting. - Rob
