Title: How to recognize
Post by betson on Jan 2nd, 2007 at 1:07pm
Greetings,

This topic is just for speculation, to have fun with. :D Serious controversy isn't possible.  :)

Recently I attended a reunion where almost everyone had changed shapes, colors, etc. No sci fi morphing had done it,  :D  just living life had left its marks. We found that the best way to recognize each other was by our smiles.  :) S omething in those muscles/shapes had stayed the same.

So, how will we recognize each other when we're in the afterlife and are mainly light?

Seriously,
Bets

I don't know much about the things many of you have studies, but having seen another being that at least made himself look human. I'd say we will have faces and bodies of some form.

There have been a number of times when I’ve felt the presence of a particular relative and of a close friend, both deceased.  I don’t know whether this feeling amounts to contact with them or if some need in me invokes a strong feeling or memory of them.  This sensed presence either appears beside me or slightly behind and above me.

In both cases, the sense and feeling that I get is unmistakably that particular person.  There is no visual image, just the feeling.  So my thought is that everyone has a unique feeling tone (or vibration) that identifies a particular individual.  I don’t think we need a visual impression such as we might get in dreams.  If we’re in a visual mode maybe that impression would get translated into an image of the person – but I don’t think it’s necessary.

I hope this thread gets a bunch of responses, because it’s a fascinating question.  Can’t wait to see what other folks have to say.  Thanks for your speculation Betson.  I like that at the reunion, you recognized people by their smiles.  Perhaps the smile is made up of more than just the muscle shapes.  Interesting!

Some people who are adept at reading auras and people in general swear to the fact that we all have our own astral or consciousness "signatures," that are more than our looks in the physical world.  This may relate to the intuitive insight in which some of us recognize others.  I think Alyssia has mentioned this before; she may be a better source on this than me.

Perhaps we will have no need to recognize anyone....we will simply know them.  An energy exchange of significance might make "recognition" unnecessary.  It would be like two clouds in the sky which merge together and become one cloud.

Some are bright and puffy. Some are whispy and scattered. Some are large and dark and full of sound and fury. Some glow with unusual shades of color.  Endless variations.  They all contain the elixer of life.  Our energies feel like that to me.

I believe it is one cup from which we drink when we meet in the highest places.  But that cup from which we drink can cause a myriad of dreams and visions...here and there, everywhere.

love, blink

My personal belief is that some will remain physical , yet powerful. Different powers for some.
I see many different kingdoms also.

I know that each of us carry auras, I figure thats what you relate to as color. I'm not sure.

Hi Bets I have had visual sighting of my dads spirit and he looks the same as he did when he was alive, only difference is he is surrounded by pale yellow light, but when i had a visual of my aunt josephine she was like a pale light.

When i commune with a spirit i have the image of what they look like, thats how im able to describe who im communing with, but there image is mostly round the side of me and now and again frontal.

I feel when we cross over,we will know each other,if not by looks because some of us on here have a picture and some dont,so we will know by senseing the personalities of each of us,as i think on here we know each others personality,by the way we add our veiws.

On here its like being blind,we cant see each other on here face to face, but i think that if we wrote on here without giving the name we would know who has written it,as we have gotton to know each other so well, and the way we each write about things.

Love and God bless     Love Juditha

In my experience I had with my grandmother after she had passed I had a "sense" of an ethereal place filled with internal light. It was like a glowing/sparkling orchard that had a sensed fragrance that was not of this world. It was very magical and I knew/sensed/felt that this was where my grandmother's essence resided. I "felt" her signature here... yet, it felt like it was a perfected/balanced her; like all of the weight, trials, and negativities of this life had been lifted and only balance, kindness, and harmony remained.

There was no need to experience visual contact with her to know that it was her. It was felt in a way that is more convincing than visual contact. It was more emotionally based.

I believe that we all have an "energy signature" that we learn to recognise.  To me, this is like fingerprints - everyone's is unique.  There are times when I have felt love sent to me and am able to instantly recognise who it comes from - the "signature" is unmistakable.

The fact is that we only have a truely uniform physical form in the physical world.  When we leave the physical plane, we have an appearance of physical form mainly due to familiarity with that form, for yourself and others.  I have read of many experiences where as the soul progresses spiritually, it also changes color and in some cases form.  Also, the longer the consiousness exists after a physical life, the less attached they become to that life, allowing the physical shape to become less similar to their physical body.  Whatever our consiousness is made of... light, love, whatever it is... it has a unique presence, or like others have said, signature.  This makes perfect sense, especially due to the fact that we have no physical body or permanent form.  This allows us to see a ball of light, and autommaticaly know it is our grandfather.(just an example)

What makes you so sure that one cannot become physical once they leave here, if they leave here?
Aren't there different diminsions? Couldn't there be many creators of life and whos to say what that life would be like?
I believe in a physical heaven. I can't help but believe that. I believe there are several heavens and maybe differnet types of beings in each.

The afterlife territories are nonphysical dimensions.  Physical dimensions exist as learning experiences for our souls.  Once we die from a physical body, our soul goes on to the nonphysical afterlife dimensions.  There are most definately different physical dimensions, different physical worlds in which our souls can partake in a differnt physical life for a different type of learning experience.  However, what makes our experiences "physical" is the physical bodies that we occupy, and the seemingly physical surrounds in which we are in.  However, the physical bodies do not last forever, they die, and at that time our experience in that life is over, our souls move out of the physical dimension and onto the nonphysical ones.  A physical experience requires a physical body, and while you may be able to go into a physical dimension without a physical body, it is not a physical expeirence.  After we die, we may very well choose to become physical once again, either on earth or another appropriate planet or dimension.  But you must arrange to be "implanted" into a body in order to have that experience.  If you beleive in a physical heaven, then you must also believe that we are put into physical body before entering this "physical heaven", otherwise it would not be a physical heaven, not for your experience anyway.  And I'm sure you dont believe that..

Yes but this place is a physical place and yet is also spiritual.

Correct, which is why we are here.  To live this physical existance and spiritually grow from it.  But this in no way implys that the afterlife is a physical experience, because it is not.

Blink--- I agree with you. When Bob Monroe went exploring the afterlife, sometime he came across spirits that he felt he knew but couldn't recognize by their current physical appearance. Once he started "talking" to the spirit, it would then become clear to him who the person was when in the physical.  That's because most of us, when we go to spirit, would like to look our very best in physical appearance.  That means that we look like we did at the peak of our physical between ages 25 and 35.  As for myself, I wouldn't want you to see me in spirit over weight, double chin, crocked nose, pot belly, etc.  I would manifest myself to look like I did when I weighed only 108 pounds and not 155 pounds!!  I may even make a few improvements while I'm at it.
We keep the physical appearance as long as we feel necessary.  Then we are just a beam of glorious light.  I think each light being has his/her own vibration and only those who are in tune with that vibration may recognize each other.
Love and (my) Light--- Carol Ann

I am one of those who also recognize energy signatures.  Even here in the physical I can feel/recognize specific energy signatures of physically alive people, and have also experienced it with nonphysical/deceased people.  So for me, I am sure this ability would be the same for me in the afterlife.

Along the lines of what Bets was saying about smiles, I love to recognize people's spirits in their eyes.

The term “signature” is good.  Thanks Doc and others.  I have a little trouble referring to the strong feeling of the presence of a loved one as “a signature”.  Makes me think of a contract or writing a check or signing a charge slip at the store.  Nevertheless, I can’t think of a better descriptive term.  Linguistically speaking I guess that's how languages evolve.

I agree, Vicky,

Who we are is in our eyes. When I wrote about smiles, I made it sound more muscle-y/mechanical, but a smile depends on the eyes. :)

Hey Rob, I hope my energy signature has some calligraphy in it, and doesn't just become a dash and a jot like the way I sign business papers !  :)  Maybe not as ceremonial as a 'John Hancock' but with at least enough flourish to waltz abit.  ;)

Thanks Betson.  It helps to think of calligraphy, which is in the order of fine art instead of just a plain old signature. - Rob
