Title: since belief plays a big role in the afterlife
Post by wonderful27 on Dec 19th, 2006 at 6:41pm
Since belief plays a big role in the our afterlife expierence, could i for example belive i was gonna end up a finger and end up a finger and would i stay a finger for eternity or could i belive i was gonna wake up from a long long long dream i had when i was 8 years old and become 8 again. Im basing alot this off quantum mechanics.

Belief does create reality there, however every system we are in has boh divine laws and areas that we can manipulate.  Hells are often created by misdirected belief.  Bruce's example of a woman convinced that death was eternal sleep, so she had slept in a bed for centuries, unable to hear helpers or move on.

So the long and short of it is that the more we set our thought into rigid beliefs, the furher we may get away from the light of God, learning about love, grace, forgiveness and the unity of all things.  Can you indulge in strange beliefs and create them for a time?  Yes, but I doubt it will be very satisfying.

Are there limitations on beliefs. I mean what if i belived that this was all a dream i was having and that im really asleep and that i would awake being 8 years old again. Would i actaully awake to being 8 again I dont know if you could awake another physical body actaully being you but it may be possible i dont know.

My understanding is that your beliefs would create things in the afterlife - not thrust you into a new earth life.  Thus you would be bound there by limitations which your beliefs set.

Like DocMan said, there are certain fundamental laws that cannot be broken.  Thinking that you were 8 years old again, and actually going back in time and starting your previous life over from 8 years old would definately break the rules, theres no way that could happen.

The concept of beliefs and thoughts creating tangible realities in the afterlife is a large concept to grasp in all of its entirety. It seems to me that there must be/should be a set of spiritual governing systems that help to organize various thoughts and beliefs in such a way as we are not fully capable of doing in this physical reality of ours, otherwise it would be a pretty unstable and chaotic place if thoughts and beliefs just popped into existence as they crossed our awareness/consciousness. However, I do believe that our potential is unlimited granted the guidance of harmony and balance. Also, in my opinion limitations/laws are bendable if they are in balance/harmony with the interests of spiritual growth and the ultimate pursuit of universal pure unconditional love.

The dynamics and innerworkings of pure unconditional love and light in the afterlife must be a direct function of these spiritual governing systems (laws) that help to organize beliefs and thoughts while still allowing them to be free-will oriented. Or, possibly it is akin to having a thought or belief in this life... just because I can picture a house on top of a snowy mountain ridge does not mean that it is going to take form right in front of me. I would have to gather the wood, labor, paperwork, etc. in order to begin construction of such a thought/belief. So, maybe in the afterlife there is such a system set up whereby there is a filtration of thoughts/beliefs prior to the actual materialization of those thoughts and beliefs.

It may function in a way that is not understandable in human terms. In an analogy it might be like trying to think of a color that you have never seen before without using blends of other colors... Just because we can't think of what that never before seen color might look like it does not then follow that that color therefore does not exist.

This may give explanation towards my efforts to describe such a system.
