Title: An interesting argument against "God"... Post by Chumley on Dec 1st, 2006 at 6:17am
Remember the movie "Terminator 2"?
The villain in that movie, was a "cyborg" made out of a "liquid metal alloy." He looked just like a human, but could shape-shift into anything he wanted, could not be permanently injured, et cetera... not to mention, he was aging-proof. Now consider the human body for a moment. (Remember that this construction is the work of "God" if you choose to believe in one.) Humans (and all animals) are frankly lousy pieces of work. We are made out of ORGANIC FILTH... think about it! Highly organized slime. We fart out stinking clouds of putrefactive gas, produced by massive colonization of normally disease-causing microbes in our gut... We sh!t out foul, toxic, bio-hazardous material. We naturally emit a sort of rotten, cheesy odor (due to bacterial action on fats mostly) in the absence of copious amounts of soap and water. Our mouths are such seething cauldrons of filth, that in the absence of fluoridated water and toothpaste, our teeth (actually the best-made parts of our bodies!) swiftly rot away. Even if you believe the "Adam and Eve" story, you must admit that even "Pre-Fall" humans would still have been made out of the same nasty, disease-and-injury prone FLESH that we all know and love... so it looks like "God" isn't getting of the hook on the "sin" argument. (Too bad Xians!) And one more thing... Most of us are UGLY (had a look at people on the street lately?) And we get uglier and uglier the older we get... Now tell me... why is it that if I were "God", I'd make my creations out of high-quality materials (say the "liquid metal" mentioned above... humans could still have all their bodily pleasures even! But without all the filth and vulnerability that "Yahweh" made, assuming "he" exists.) Why would "God", make us out of the same filth, that he used to make worms, bugs, ect. out of? Given the evidence, I'd say that atheism/evolution provides a MUCH saner explanation for this phenomenon. Far from being "wonderfully and fearfully made" we show every evidence of being "designed" (evolved actually) by an idiotic, impersonal, mindless force of nature... NOT a loving "God." I wonder why so few people can see this...? Yours in organic filthiness, B-man |

That's interesting that you might see things this way, Chum...almost sounds like a horror novel just reading your post. There are probably endless scenarios you can find in this world to support your view. It really made me want to go brush my teeth and take a shower immediately...but for creepy reasons. It's sometimes fun to do those things out of pure pleasure.
And isn't that a quality of human life which might be "unecessary" but not to be missed? Laughter and fun in life....found in the unlikeliest places near you..... :) And, don't you find the sheer diversity of the qualities of expression of life itself amazing? It won't surprise you that I was walking around one day recently in a daze of pleasure while seeing the tenuous balance of color, shape and movement in the surroundings. However, when the week moved on and a 27 degree wind chill took hold of me yesterday it was not the same world to see....it was a world it was only possible to endure. I can see why if there weren't a God someone would create one under those circumstances. You need a friend sometimes, even in your own mind, in difficult circumstances. And I wonder, do people get uglier as they get older? It seems to be all in the mind of the beholder. For instance, I find my 90 year old grandmother to be incredibly beautiful in her frailty. Don't you find a little "magic" in that? The combination of love and strength which enables a person to survive so long under so many conditions, and perhaps still have something to say, to have an opinion that matters...hers is always about love, I've noticed. But I really enjoyed your post very much, in the way that one enjoys a nice, dark, dank tale of horror and dread when one is safely in their home with the wind howling outside. love, blink |

Chum,
This is tiring. Life on earth can be seen as beautiful, miraculous, OR we can take Shakespeare's and Hobbes' quotes: "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." Shakespeare Or Thomas Hobbes discussing life during war time, but taken by some to mean life in general: "And the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short." Life in the earth plane is not meant to be perfect. For those who have traveled to Focus 27, where literally anything can be created that is thought of, I think that is the "perfect" place you think a perfect God would create. So why would earth be filled with a mixed pictures? Could it be that there is something wonderful and noble about discovering love, thankfulness, gratitude, in a world where nothing is guarenteed? Could it be that overcoming obstacles, rising above our circumstances enhances our spiritual development? If so, I see earth in all her beauty, as the perfect place to live, love, laugh, cry. And from your talk of cryonics and freeze drying your body and brain to live forever, you must feel its a pretty good world in some ways too. M |

Hi Chumley Cyborgs are ugly not humans,as humans are beautiful as they have a soul, what God gave us to share with our physical body. And thats what makes us all special.
I would not want to exist as an unfeeling, crapped up cyborg.Metafors are better, because if you are a metafor, you can metermorphis as anything you want to be,sounds a bit more exciteing, dont you think. Love and God bless you Chumley Love Juditha |

I see your point, B-Man, but on the other hand, cyborgs would have a problem enjoying limburger and garlic on rye, or pickled herring and Jarlsburg, or a pint of mellow ale or glass of chianti over linguini a la vongole - why even their small talk would eventually be nothing but static. With your human apparatus you can produce your own static - and enjoy all the other benefits.
I spent years wondering whether a metallic carcass might be superior, but when I think of growing old, I kinda wonder whether I'd rather have the flu or a severe case of rust. And the nostalgia of passing car wrecking yards - the neat abatoirs of the future? In fact, right now I have some office computers with a virus, so even that part isn't safe. But perhaps they all go to silicon heaven - actually, if they'd let me, I think I might take one of these malfunctioning beasties out to the range and return the complement - which reminds me. If God made you out of this marvelous liquid metal, who'd be there to provide parts? And then there is the hotel/motel problem. Does the discreet lover bring a can of Anti-Clank? Makes me wonder about K-Y in SAE 10-40. Nah - I'll stick to being smelly, revolting, and ugly, as I pass wise airs through my waffle bottomed chair ... As to why God did this? I think Ex-Pres Carter put it succinctly when they inquired of this own exploits - "Because he could." - The real question was put by Einstein, who wondered whether God could have created the world any differently. M ***************** Of course, Doc - if I do decide to get made into a corpsicle, my end goal is to be almost unrecognizable as "Chumley" by the time I get done with the genetic upgrades and cyborging. And yes, the world IS good in many ways, and life IS good much of the time. It's the vile aspects (not all the challenges and hardships, they give color to life) - the putrid types of problem that you are HELPLESS to combat, and bring you dishonor besides... that I would like to part company with. (F'rinstance, how does being prone to cancer, or mental illness, or poor eyesight, make life more worthwhile? "Oh, but it's part of being human" you say? Guess what, so is leprosy - if you happen to live in India or some other nasty place. Any volunteers for being "human" here..?) Sorry Doc, but such phenomena/things have NO redeeming value, no matter what "profundities" you try to justify them with. -'Nuff said! B-man |

One day my sister came out of the shower wrapped in a towel with wet hair, dancing and singing:
Whoa-oa-oa! I feel GOOOOOOD, I knew that I would, now I FEEEEEEEEL good, I knew that I would, now So good, so good, I got you Whoa! I feel NICE, like sugar and spice I FEEEEEEEL nice, like sugar and spice So nice, so nice, I got you A little James Brown moment to make me smile when I remember it. There's one good reason for dirt and filth. I can think of some others.... :) love, blink |

Going by my experience of God and heaven, you can't judge what it's all about by thinking about how things are in the physical. Doing so would be like a fish in a pond trying to comment on the view from the top of Mt. Everest.

Title: Re: An interesting argument against "God"... Post by Ra. on Dec 2nd, 2006 at 12:58pm Bro you are just one of those people who just don't get it!!! I'm really tired of people basing their anti-god beliefs on stuff like O god can't be real because why would he allow this, Or this, Or this, DUDE this world is not meant to be perfect!!!! This world is for the human spirit and every other type of spirit to LEARN ON!!!! Experience is the mother of knowledge. And why would you even base perfection on such short sight??? Fuk the super robot android loser and realize he is nothing compared to you, being as you have a soul!!!! |

Chumley, I confident that you are just trying to sow disharmony among us. ;) It would be nice if we could "rebuild the Tower of Babel" in a manner of speaking, and be reunited in harmony so I kindly ask for you to consider helping us realize that goal and recognize a common vision of coexistance.
One of the worst disasters of humanity is people being "comfortable" and letting egomanical injustices flouish. (Communism, Nazism, Militant Islam, etc.) |

Hey there,
I always believe experience is the best teacher. That for me answers most questions and mis-understandings in life. Whether or not all this is all true why bother worrying about it, I don't think we will ever find out the whole truth this lifetime, so we might as well make the most of what we have left in this cycle. Chumley,
First of all, have you ever met God and do you know who or what God is? I hear many times from people who have had near death experiences that God is made of love or is love and if God is made of love or is love then we all know that God exist and if you don't know what love is then maybe you should really get some help or start really looking at yourself. Second of all, if you were educated enough you would know that everything is essentially made of light, not filth. |

Einstein himself said as much (e=mc2, think about it!) O.K., so I'll concede that even a turd shat by a spore-spewing leper in Calcutta, India is "made out of light" on a basic level. Doesn't mean I'd want a collection of turds culled from the public latrines in the slums of Calcutta though. Why, pray tell? Because they are FILTH, my friend. Deny it if you can..! B-man |
