Day to day meditation does not have to fall into a set groove.  Why not experiment and look for interesting ways to meditate?

I do a lot of kinetic meditation with a lot of long walks on the beach by myself.  With the sound of the Surf and the Seagulls in the background.
The whole world opens up before you.

Have always loved the sea and being surrounded by water which is why I like island life and spending a lot of time at sea on my sloop (Ocean Spirit) whenever I can.

Winter is arriving. My sloop is in dry dock for a while.  Where is that water?  

Out of desperation bought one of those plastic Kiddies pools at Wal-Mart that were being heavily discounted for end of season.
Bought mine for three bucks.  This one was six feet wide and 12 inches deep.  Set it up in the corner of my bedroom, filled it up to 4 inches of water and set one of those collapsible aluminum lawn chairs in the middle, the ones with the fabric webbing.  Lit four candles, and set them N, S. E, and W of where I was sitting.  My lawn chair faced N.

I slapped on my wireless headphones and one of the Hemi-sync CD’s.

WOW! Just got started when Chang my Siamese Tom Cat wanted to get into the “action” and jumped into the pool to join me. He quickly jumped out and jumped on my bed.  No wet paws for him LOL  ;D

There is something about being surrounded by a body of water that tends to filter out the energies around you.    Your meditations tend to become clearer and more “pure” for lack of a better term.    

This has been an ongoing experiment for a while.  Would love to hear about some of your  experiences and techniques that you are using.   They would be sincerely appreciated.   Love Bob  :)

wow Bob. great to see u stop by..knew u liked water but didn't know you like it that much, come to think of it our bodies are mostly water.
can't resist teasing you a little. is your wife ok with this new thing? I'm an ex housekeeper is why I think like this. and a frustrated decorator as well.

so anyhoo I do believe the call of the sea yanked me out of body once. already told that story here.  my current meditation is listening to music. I found a radio station on the net called NewAge Sky...its so mellow it makes me think of other dimensions and I need to put weights on my feet just to stay grounded. driving is difficult after listening to this kind of mellow. I keep wondering where I am and where I'm going and have to remind myself I'm in something metal with 4 wheels and I'm rolling down the street...I did buy liability insurance the other day, I do like to be legal.
sitting in the shower with warm water on your head works nicely to get meditating as it relaxs, you can not be uptight under warm water.
as far as bringing PUL into your meditation, that is very very good technique to expand mind. thinking about what somebody said to me to express their love produces a good feeling and can take that into a meditation.

My bathtub is an old cast iron claw foot club I got out of an old house (swapped two horse trims for it...a total of $36 at the time...)  It even came with it's own ghost, who hung around for a few years until, apparently, she was assured that I would take care of her pride and joy.

I'm a sort of eclectic pagan, so the symbolism of earth (the iron tub) water (duh! ;>), air (incense or scented bath salts) and fire (candles) when I take a meditative soak aren't lost on me.

Interesting things occur to the mind under those conditions.
