Title: Waking Life Post by OutOfBodyDude on Nov 8th, 2006 at 9:37pm
I don't know if anyone has ever heard of the movie Waking Life, but it may be the best movie ever made. Its basically about a dude who's stuck in a dream, and just wakes up into other dreams. Its filled with philosophies and very interesting topics. But the one of relavance to this website is when the main character talks to a person who has finished his life on earth, and realizes why he was sent here and where he's going next. His entire dialogue is taken right from Robert Monroe's book Ultimate Journey. I read that book a year after watching the movie, and was blown away that his lines came from the book and they were talking about the same exact thing. The quote was..
"A thousand years is but an instant. There's nothing new, nothing different. The same pattern over and over. The same clouds, the same music, the same insight I felt an hour or an eternity ago. There's nothing here for me now, nothing at all. Now I remember. This happened to me before. This is why I left. You have begun to find your answers. Although it will seem difficult, the rewards will be great. Exercise your human mind as fully as possible, knowing it is only an exercise. Build beautiful artifacts, solve problems, explore the secrets of the physical universe, savor the input from all the senses, feel the joy and sorrow, the laughter, the empathy, compassion and tote the emotional memory in your travel bag. I remember where I came from and how I became a human, why I hung around, and now my final departure is scheduled. This way out. Escaping velocity. Not just eternity, but infinity." This is probably my favorite quote ever. Everyone would enjoy this movie, watch it fools. |

Hey Dude, if I could just see your eyes...I would know you by the vibration of the signal. aside from that I truly would enjoy the movie and will keep my attention open for it to show up. so glad to know some movie maker thought of Monroe and makes me want to re-read the book I sold to another. see what I missed? that is a great quote.
heres a brain twister for you along the same subject; have run across a couple people who go to sleep and wake up into another life. one of them consistently, another just fleetingly. I haven't done that but I believe we have a few mutants who are able to deal with it. |
