Title: Proof of Paranormal Phenomena Post by baby_duck on Oct 23rd, 2006 at 10:57am
Hello:
I have found a fool-proof method of contacting persons who have deceased. I am a total rookie and I have had several ADC's; however, I wanted that extra bit of proof. Halloween is coming so maybe I just wanted to get "spooked". I have read many articles on EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) and I have always been curious to try it out. I live in an older apartment so I am sure it has alot of history. I had my first go at EVP last night. I followed the instructions on a website that I found. I bought a cheap tape recorder and it's recommended that you use an external microphone, so I used one. I turned on my radio and tuned it until It was in between stations so that you have "white noise". I put that tape casette into the recorder and pressed "record". It is also recommended that you do a little introduction on the tape and maybe ask a question or two, so thats what I did. I guess the final ingredient is intent. I had the intent of making contact but I only half-believed it would happen. After I did my intro and pressed "record button", I went straight to bed. I put the tape recorder in my living room so I wouldn't be disturbed. I fell alseep immediatly. The tape was 2 hours long. I woke up at 4:00 a.m. and decided to play back the tape. For some reason I was feeling scared and getting goose bumps. I was lying in bed listening to the tape and halfway through it I heard a distinct womens' voice say "hello". In all honesty it freaked me out and I was almost about to have a heart attack. I felt that this was an earthbound spirit because of the chilly feeling I received. Afterwards, I felt an unknown presence. I could just feel something near me. I prayed and asked God to surround me with the white light of the holy spirit and protect me. I asked Patrick to come and watch over me (deceased boyfriend). Soon I felt a calming energy. The fear was gone. I am now wondering if EVP is somewhat dangerous like the Ouija board. I did welcome all spirits. Do you think it is asking for trouble to play around with things like this? Perhaps there is the danger of getting the attention of an unwanted spirit and once they are invited to make contact they may decide that they don't want to leave. I tried not to fear and think of love but it was hard. Maybe it is because I am new at this. Anyhow, I feel this is the surest way to get proof of the paranormal for a sceptical person. Does anybody else have any experiences with EVP that they could share? :o |

I listened to the tape and further along I sware I heard a whispering phantom voice say "I think your hiding". I need to find a way to make the recording clearer; I am not sure how to do that. I was fast asleep at the point I heard that comment.

Hey Baby Duck,
I have no experience with this sort of thing so can't give you any practical advice sorry. The results sound good though! My advice though would be to maybe start with an affirmation like many including Bruce advise, stating that only positive loving spirits come through prehaps, I'm not really sure of one but I'm sure others here would have a better ideas. It looks like you have got a contact though! It would be neat if you could find out who she is and maybe research and find her somehow to prove this is real. I'm not sure how you would do this though?? That second voice sounds a bit freaky though! Keep us informed if you get any more results, I would love to hear about them if you have the time. Ryan |

Hi Baby Duck-
Chilipepperflea has the right idea. About 50 years ago when I was young and foolish I used LSD to open the same kind of doors - And, as I have since mentioned to my friends, it's rather like using dynamite to relieve a minor case of constipation. In other words, definitely some danger. To prevent getting unpleasant things and horrific spooks romping through my psyche I discovered that I could (1) dedicate the entire process to the "Highest Good" (in those days I wasn't sure if I wanted to admit to the existence of God), and (2) do whatever the day's activity was for some kind of useful purpose for others. In practice, the usual idea was to "discover the Truth, and through the discovery to become a better person". As far as I can tell, this has not only been effective in the immediate sense of preventing me from doing stupid things like trying to stop trains single handedly, but it also kept me focussed on the more useful aspects of psychical research so that I actually grew, instead of getting mired down in technicalities, watching hallucinatory or disembodied spirits parade etc. On the basis of experience, I'd say that this is essentially all that you need to do to be safe, no matter what you're fiddling with. (In retrospect, this was not a successful method to prevent me from becoming ill on numerous occasions from either my own realizations of personal imperfections as yet unrepaired, or bad chemistry.) The method that you're developing sounds quite useful. I'd be interested in any further results etc. dave |

My neighbor down the hall from me said that a nice native indian lady had passed away in the apartment next door from mine about 4 months ago but who knows if it was her, It could have been anyone. I don't know if I should try this again. If I ever come across a ghost I will try to send it love and guide it to the white light. In the morning after lying in bed and listening to the tape I heard rattling in/of my drawers (I think). I heard strange house noises, but sometimes its hard to decipher if these things are real or just imagined. On my tape however, there is proof. Part of me wants to experiment further, but another part of me is worried I will open the floodgate and won't be able to close it! Maybe word will get out and all of the ghosts will be saying " Hey, theres a party at this place, come on down". We'll see...................

Howsabout "Come to the party and meet God" - kinda filters the guest list a bit.

Hi BabyDuck,
I've heard those voices become clearer the more often they're played. I thought of the EVP, but everytime I consider it or only think about it I become scared, goosebumps included; I don't know why, but anyway I don't know if I ever try this. Though it's really interesting, and I have audio equipment... Spooky |

I was just thinking of trying the same thing in my house just a few days ago. Guess I'll have to give it whirl now and see what happens. I've had paranormal activity in every house I've lived in. In this house, when you are in the basement you hear running/stomping footsteps upstairs, banging doors, and loud crashes, or someone calling your name. It's kinda creepy but we're so used to it that even the kids couldn't care less anymore. It's funny, but my kids are so desensitized to this stuff by now.
I would suggest if you try it again, do a more controlled experiment. You said you had the radio on? Did you have it on all night? Next time, don't use the radio as it shouldn't be necessary. The only way to enhance the audio is to be able to hook it up to your computer and if you had a program that cleaned up audio, you could use it to enhance the frequency in which you heard the voice. I sound like I know more than I do. I don't know anything about these programs but I just know of them. |

Spooky:
I know what you mean! Something felt inherently evil after I had conducted this experiment. I did not say a prayer of protection and I felt alot of energy that was unfamiliar to me, and not all of the energy had the purest of intentions. I heard my cupboards rattling and extra noises that didn't exist before the experiment. I felt creeped out in my apartment and for 3 nights I had to leave my hallway light on at night. After several prayers I felt calmness and peace again. I believe this might not have happened if I was better prepared. You have to be quite mentally/emotionally stable to handle this type of experience according to the EVP website. Another interesting aspect; when one is practising EVP, ones esp abilites are also heightened. After listeneing to many recordings it is common for one to notice an increase in "seeing things out of the corner of their eyes" or feeling energy more intensly. Also, whoever records the specific tape can actually sense what a spirit is saying into the tape, where an average person might not hear anything. you see, the spirits use some of our energy aswell ( in order to communicate). It is alot like chanelling. This happened to me. I would hear distinct messages that my friends could not hear, and then when I played back the tape and listened to it "from a sceptics perspective", I couldn't hear it either. But I definatly felt/heared /sensed the same perticular messages each time I listened and didn't try so hard. It is very interesting. I highly recommend people read as much as they can on the subject before jumping in blindy like I did! BD |

Hi there, baby duck! At 5am and not having gone to "bed" yet like the insomniac I am.....I've been taking advantage at least of the time to dig through the forums, and I came across your post. You were one of the people that first extended a warm greeting, and made me feel at home here, as well as sharing your own experience with recent loss. You have a sincerity that comes through easily....which is very.. 8-) !
Once again, this is another topic that has interested me in the past, and I still might do from time to time. I am one that LOVES to read, and sometimes tear through material so fast I don't remember important names or authors....but anyway, several years ago, I was reading a book, and in the section dealing with EVP's(which of course I went ahead and did it,as soon as I was done reading it) I read about a man, whose name I know I've seen mentioned here somewhere in the boards....perhaps someone will see this and know right away....but he was kind of like the founding father of EVP's. I think his first experience with it was accidental,as I recall,I believe he was recording bird calls in the woods near his home...and when he listened to the tape, he was stunned to hear his mother calling his name, b/c she had died a while back. I think he became interested in this, and began to study and experiment with it. Annnnyyyhoooowww...... I kept it as basic as it possibly could be, b/c I wanted to try it right away, and I read that a simple tape recorder could work just fine. I used a very basic hand held one, that was not all that new,and a regular cassette tape,no microphones, or any other outside stuff.I remember reading about the radio, in between stations, but I simply asked a few questions, and hit record, and left it in a quiet room.... I can't think of a time where I didn't pick up anything..and when Sandy first was getting to know me,and living with me,he was a believer in God,and Jesus Christ and passionately so, but rejected the idea of things like spirits making any kind of contact or having any ability to communicate with us, reincarnation, and most of the things that make up a large part of my personal reality. I didn't want to try and "convert" him to my beliefs or way of thinking. I could see that he felt somewhat threatened by the very notion of accepting the possibilities, fearing it was not compatible with fundamental Christianity. ....however he quickly started to question things b/c he was witness to things he previously felt were nonsensical mumbo-jumbo.One of the things that raised his eyebrows and curiosity was the EVP's. I don't remember too many details about the content, but it was there....sometimes it was a voice, and others it was several different voices. One thing, in my experience that I recall, was the randomness of the comments.I would ask a question, but it didn't seem like there were direct answers to them,or if so,I wasn't catching it and interpreting it right. It is different than when talking with a soul in my mind, or even outloud, b/c then I feel, and can understand the responses I'm getting. With the EVP's, it was fascinating....but it felt almost like eavesdropping on pieces of conversations...except for a few "Hello to you too" type thing, but I wasn't sure it was directed at me,or if I was tuning in on some other goings on.I recall hearing groups of people, it sounded like, talking, and laughing, not always clearly hearing conversations...but catching phrases and such...but not feeling like I ever came away with some direct information, or messages beyond the very simple. Of course I didn't get really into it, with good equipment and persistent efforts....so it's something I definately could know more about, and will be watching for more posts......Warmly...Tanja |
