Hi I have always thought,that the reason man or woman has a sex change operation or beleive that he or she is in the wrong physical form,is that there spirit either entered the wrong body at the stage of birth or the deal before they were born was either she or he was supposed to come back as male or female and just ended up in the wrong physical form.

Because right from early childhood,they truly know and feel that they are not in the right physical form.

One reason could be that ,for instance if in a former life,this man had commited karma against the female species,then he could have been placed in the physical form of woman to work this karma out,by being trapped in the form of the female body,but because he knows he is a man so strongly that he in the end has to have this operation,to become the body of a man.

Also a woman who has  commited karma against the male species.

I think this could be one explanation of why ,he or she find themselves in the wrong physical form.Just a thought,i could be wrong but then again we dont always get it right.

That could be true in some cases.  I think some spirits prefer one over the other, but I don't think there is "gender" in the spirit world.

I feel that if someone usually incarnates as female, incarnating as male may seem a bit "foreign"..and vice versa.

But, we choose who to incarnate into before birth..no one is forced to incarnate one way or the other.  Of course, suggestions may be made by our guides as to what would be helpful for what we need or want to learn about..

In addition, some people start out in one gender, then switch in the midst of life. I have the feeling that we change sex about as often as we change clothes. Maybe for the same reasons. . . ?

I was watching a program recently on twined boys, during the show which was about how one turned out gay and the other hetero. The boy who was effeminate described how when in the womb he was supposed to be incarnating as a girl, but that the father had wished for a boy so he changed while in the womb.

Then on the very next day I was watching something on Bindy Erwin, She was taking about how she was meant to be a boy , but when she was in her mothers tummy that her father wished she be a girl, so she changed.

I think when children speak of these things there has to be some truth to it, these souls are still young and not yet touch by the harsh world around them.

I love this site, and this topic is one I have thought about alot,and wish I had the time now to write more.....

I have all kinds of therories about this, and of course, they are only my opinion or perspective, and I welcome changing and growth which often might bring new or modified perceptions...

A loooong story very short, I had felt very strange in this body I have now...I've had a few regressions, and seem to be able, since then, to spontaneously have flashes or meditations of different lifetimes...and I find it insightful and interesting. I also get those flashes when I'm around people, like my kids, and many people I know...that I recognize as souls I've cycled with before. I usually can see many different people in that one person, and can have flashes of different lifetimes we've shared. Very recently my longtime love passed, exactly a month ago now....and I was aware very much of esp.two particular lifetimes I've had with him, both of which we were in reversed roles. Even in life,physically he was a beautiful man, an alpha-male supreme, and I can have fun with my femininity....but we had a wonderfully intimiate relationship, and he used to tell me that he didn't know why it was since he had been with me...but he sometimes intensely wished we could"switch bodies" even for a night,lol...and we said this with humor...and it was interesting to me, b/c I've always felt I have definately been incarnated mostly as a male,and that dosen't mean I'm not happy being female,I am...no Fruedian complex with that... ;) Anyway, lately in dreams and even when meditating and when I feel him around me, I've had some vivid imagery of those lifetimes(which I kept to myself about b/c he didn't believe in reincarnation)and at first I was thinking,wait a minute, am I somehow twisting or misinterpreting this??But then it hit me,I think he's having great fun with this.He knew how I felt about death, and he too, did believe in afterlife and I know he's made and succeeded in making attempts at letting me know he's around,in various ways.And another thing  hit me again,no, this was the perfect way for him to say "hi",b/c of course I would remember how often we joked about that, and perhaps he might have been shown some of the lifetimes I was sensing, and been feeding me things he's finding out....b/c the way I was seeing him was in the way I saw him in regressions of this/these lifetime(s).

Oh oh,racing against the clock, so forgive me if I'm jumping all over the place here. My father does believe in reincarnation, I was surprised to find later in life...(b/c my mom didn't want him to talk of such things), it was neat to find as an adult,my dad and I have alot of the same beliefs.....and I once remarked to him that I feel this is one of my rare female incarnations..to which he replied(much to my surprise) that he thought that was probably true,and that me choosing to come back as female would for one thing be something I need to do to find out what strength can really mean, b/c women and men both have their own challenges..and he thought a woman might have to develop diferent kinds of coping skills...

I think it's an interesting topic, b/c even now, and since I was very very small, when I dream, half the time in my dreams I'm in male form,and don't even notice this as odd until I wake up...and I say again...I don't wish to be a man..so can't wait to keep following this topic....and I too, feel the soul is sexless...take care all....T

Hey Rob...I relate.

I just finished reading a book titled, "Life before life".  It's a scientific study about children who claim to have been reincarnated.  Many of them ask to be taken to their previous homes and families.  Some of them have incredibly accurate recollections.  It's very fascinating and I highly recommend it.

In one of the case studies a Burmese girl claims she was a Japanese soldier who fought in Burma during WW2.  She said that she would kill herself on the spot if she could be absolutely assured that she would reincarnate as a man in the next life.   Makes you wonder about how much personal choice is inolved.

Thanks very much for pointing out Dr. Tucker's work. Childrens' memories of former lives are a wonderful way to 'lift the veil' between C! and the afterlife!
I was very fortunate many years ago to find some of Ian Stevenson's studies and now I see they're working together as Stevenson retires. Unfortunately Stevenson is pre-internet and he didn't publish alot, so hail, Dr. Tucker!  :D

There is a LOT of planning that goes on before we incarnate again. We never choose the wrong body. When someone chooses to change sex during their life, I'm sure that was also in their life plan/blueprint. Mistakes aren't made in the spirit world.  Don't forget that we choose our lives so that we can can learn lessons we need to learn. We have a lot of help in choosing our lives from guidance and others who are very wise.

In regards to your post, Marilyn, most of the case studies in Dr. Tuckers work, where children remember the "intermission" period between lives, reflect what you suggest.  However, there are a few that don't.  And they are puzzling.  Here's an example:
