Interesting. I know from a psychologist that "eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)" is indeed working, they don't know why and of course there are the usual sceptics, but it works, it's used for trauma therapy.
The method is, a flashlight is moved horizontally left-right-left..., (or an automatic running-light-bar is used) while the patient follows it with the eyes, it's soothing and relaxing. Of course it seems to be a re-discovery, hypnotists use those methods since a long time.
That this also can be used for afterlife contacts is new to me, but it's not surprising, as every relaxation/light trance inducing method is beneficial for this I believe.

Greetings,
Do you think using the the moving flashlight to 'retrain' or smooth out some neural networks could be done by a person at home?
Thanks,
bets

Yes Betson, I think so. Maybe you try to move your eyes left and right without a flashlight first. I found it has an effect, weak, but it's there. I get de-focused then, meaning when I have something which lays heavy on my mind it's easier to forget about it, and that's probably the effect they use in trauma therapy, that the patients are not affected such strongly again when they tell about their experiences/memories.
There are some things to think about. As I see it, this is a method to induce a light trance. It is recommended when doing this to have a sort of guidance like a recording, to keep you somewhere, and if it's only the advice to be relaxed, to feel secure and everything's allright. I also guess that not you yourself should move the light, because it would be a closed circle of self action-reaction, while when something other or a machine would move the light it would be a total passive following which has more the character of a seduction into a trance (=a slightly detuned state to usual physical reality, open to friendly suggestions).

Evolver--- Thank you for the web site and information.  I skimmed over the writing briefly and saved the site for future reading.  The book sound most interesting. ---cat

Thanks for explaining it further, spooky.
But I may be abit slightly detuned already.  :)  I was thinking if the flashlight were placed on a shelf at eye level, and I sat in a desk chair with wheels, I could roll myself sideways back and forth. Do you think my actions needed to keep the chair rolling would be enough to keep the trance qualities under control?
This is does seem to have potential. (Funny coincidence that the day evolver was writing about it, I was driving by these therapists' doorstep.)

Hm Bets finally I don't know what works for YOU. From a theoretical perspective I expect that it would not work very well. The reason is your movements, but also that your movements are related to the movement of the flashlight's lightpoint in your field of view. If the flashlight moves independently of your control, than it's much more easy to let go of active involvement in C1. That's what I think would happen. Any experimentators welcome!

A simple horizontally (nearly) moving flashlight you may build with two strings attached with one ends at the back and front end of the flashlight and the other ends at the ceiling, the higher the ceiling the better (well, and the more difficult to reach lol!) so that you have a pendulum which provides a stability of the axis of the flashlight and it's spot.

Thanks for the link to this website.

I had been meaning to learn more about EMDR so thanks for the explanation. When I needed it most, it wasn't available for me. Then too it is shrouded in mystery with all the warnings about not doing it alone. I realize professionals have to make a disclaimer but they make it sound almost lethal!

I like the inherent democracy in Bruce's methods which can be used for self-retrieval, which is pretty similar to what this guy is describing in some ways.

The site led to another one that had some brief info on old voice messages from the other side; no news on new technology but still this might be interesting:

I wonder is there is any common ground on the way EMDR works and some things used in NLP. The location of the eye movements is so significant in NLP.

I did get a smile from the post in which the person said "left this density..." rather than passed over.
