Title: Hi, I am new
Post by Kathleen1 on Sep 13th, 2006 at 1:22pm
Hello, I have been reading the posts on this board for some time now. I have always wondered if  there is an afterlife. I have had some huge losses in my family. I lost my mother in 2001 and my only sister in 2004, I can't tell you how difficult it is to live without them. I am not sure what to think. Most of you seem so sure of it, but I need sound proof. I have had some suttle signs like butterflies at times, but I am still not sure. I am sorry to say that organized religion does not help me at all, I cannot find comfort like some people can from that. I feel guilty about thinking that way,but I can't help it. I have been brought up in the christian faith from my parents, but later in life I started to question alot of things. It takes alot to convince me about anything, I have to see it for myself. Thank you for reading my post. Kathleen.

Kathleen,

I'm honored to be the first to welcome you to this board. Btw, we're the same age.

The first thing to understand about the experiences we share on this board is that they are subjective. For example, a lot of people don't believe in ghosts. Neither do I. I have seen far too many of them, actually more than just seen them, to merely believe. I KNOW from direct personal experience, many times over, that we do have a consciousness that survives bodily death, for starters. BUT, I cannot prove this to you. You have to find this out for youself.

Finding out for youself is a process of discovery and often results in personal transformation. But it is a process, not an all-at-once, all-encompassing revelation.

As a matter of faith until you know for yourself, I'm asking you to keep this in mind always, no matter what you do or read:

Love and fear cannot coexist in the same place at the same time. They are in contradiction. Love is real, fear is not.

The second thing I would do is focus on your intuition, developing it and following where it leads.

The third thing I would do is be patient. Read everything you can, ask as many questions as you can, but be patient. It will come.

Love,
Rob

Hello Kathleen:

I echo what Rob wrote, except the read everything you can part. Well, I guess that's okay, as long as you're not too quick to believe everything you read.

There was a time I had doubts about the afterlife, not anymore. In fact I know that the afterlife will be quite wonderful, since I was allowed to have a taste of it a number of years ago. Be the best person you can and you'll be more than okay when your time comes.

Recoverer is right. Perhaps it would be best to start with what's on this site (the articles), books by Robert Monroe and Bruce Moen, and then proceed to other things.

Love,
Rob
