Title: Which books do you recommend? Post by DeLana on Sep 7th, 2006 at 1:42am
Hi, everyone,
as you can see, I'm new here. A few weeks ago I wouldn't have believed I would be asking about books dealing with a subject that I wasn't sure I even believed in. And then it all changed. I was raised Catholic but have always had a problem with organized religion demanding "blind faith". Frankly, it just never made sense to me. Because of this, I have been very troubled and felt at odds with much of the rest of the world. Finally, I came to the conclusion that "agnostic" probably best described my now 43-year-old self. On July 3rd I my 41-year-old brother was found dead in his apartment (he died of an aortic rupture). 6 weeks later, he came to my husband (dh) in a "dream". For some reason, after doing some research (and learning that this was an ADC) I never doubted that this was real and that my brother, who had been quite unhappy in this life, is now truly "happy" and "radiant" looking, just as dh described him. And believe me, I had been the greatest skeptic! But for some reason, it made perfect sense to me. I have to add that dh seems to have the gift, which he is not entirely comfortable with. He has had ADCs as far back as his teen years (e.g., from a friend who was killed in a car wreck), but never as strong as the ADC from my brother. In addition, two weeks after the dream-state ADC he had a daytime vision of his mother (who died a year ago), my brother, our late collie and missing cat (who was found dead two days later). What can I say, I'm now convinced that there is an afterlife and that my brother is well and happy. However, I want to learn more about it. I don't seem to have "the gift" at all (neither anyone else in my family, although my father seems to have "heard" my brother in the kitchen two weeks ago), but I have a strong need to learn about the afterlife and anything related. Also, which are the "real" psychics? Internet research got me nowhere, so maybe someone here can give me some ideas. Thank you so very much, DeLana |

Hello Delana:
Going by what I've experienced with dreams, I believe that you are correct to have faith in your husband's dream. Regarding which books I recommend, I don't know of any where I believe everything the book has to say. But that may be due to my incomplete understanding. I suggest that you stay away from books that are overly dogmatic, claim to be the only way, and try to scare you in some way. |

I highly recommend Bruce's books. I'd start with his 5th one Afterlife Knowledge Guidebook.
Love, Mairlyn ;-) |

Delana:
I had read a book called : "Hello from Heaven!" written by Bill Guggenheim and Judith Guggenheim. I really enjoyed this book and it was a good intro to ACD's. They have a website with a message board for people who have had experiences such as yourself aswell: www.after-death.com This is a comforting book filled with short stories on ADC's, they offer powerful emotional and spiritual healing, especially for those who are grieving or afraid of death. Thank you all for your recommendation and encouragement.
BTW, "Hello from Heaven" is the first book I read, in fact, and on their website I found the link to this one. Again, thanks. DeLana |

Hi Delana
I'm a big fan of the older books from spiritualism's heyday. Arthur Findlay's "On the Edge of the Etheric" is the classic of all survival books. It's based on the knowledge he accumulated over a number of years by direct voice spirit contact through trumpet medium John Sloan. A scientific explanation of survival in terms of the various states of vibration of the subatomic ether. My colleague in the Netherlands Aart Bosman has a downloadable doc version available http://spiritualbooks.exodusweb.nl/ Just as good is Edward C. Randall's "The Dead Have Never Died" from his 22 years experiences with independent direct voice medium Emily French. The universe of ether explained from a spirit viewpoint. Randall spoke with 1000's of "the dead". Nearly everyone he ever knew that died came through at one time or another. It is available on my survival ebook site http://survivalebooks.org Also there is another source of an immense wealth of afterlife knowledge, the "Rending the Vail" series. 1700+ pages in four books written primarily by materialized spirits themselves from 1899 to 1902 through materialization medium William W. Aber. In the last years some of the spirits would actually materialize and type their stories and death experiences on an early Remington typewriter. Also very good are : There is No Death - Florence Marryat who watches her dead daughter grow up over a 15 year period through materialization mediums on both sides of the Atlantic People From the Other World - Henry Olcott - experiences with the Eddy Brother materialization mediums Dawn of the Awakened Mind - John S. King Also a must listen for anyone interested in afterlife knowledge is the Woods-Greene collection of Leslie Flint direct voice recordings. I worked for over a year with Ann and Tom Harrison, who is the son of the famous materialization medium Minnie Harrison, to get the tapes put on the internet. I have up 132 recordings that range from 12 to 50 minutes at http://www.freewebs.com/afterlife/flint/flintrecordings.htm Just about anything you would want to know about the death experience or the etheric world lifestyle are answered somewhere in these recordings. We have a lot of current information, articles and other books on the ISS website http://www.survivalafterdeath.org/ David Duffield |

Good that you have shared this DeLana, this kind of first hand experiences can be very helpful, especially for other people who have lost someone- physically.
I like Bruce Moens books, and also Robert A. Monroe's. RAMs books are not very much for the practice, but they to me were very helpful in getting a new perspective of who/what we are, as well as Bruce's books which I read after RAMs. Spooky |
