Title: Why does James Randi call astral projection...

Supernatural?

If it's in nature, then it's natural, this includes God and spirits.

It's true.

James Randi seems to have an agenda which is all about decrying anything that James Randi doesn't particularly like. One of the ways he manages to do this is to label things in a way that they can be "dismissed" by the general public.

There was an interesting incident I read about where Randi had made comments concerning work done by Rupert Sheldrake with dogs. He was looking at the communication between humans and animals.

Randi pooh poohed the notion, saying that he had done experiments himself which had shown that what Sheldrake claimed was false. When asked for details Randi became very very quiet on the subject. Sheldrake pursued it, and was evenutally told by Randi that his experiment had been some time ago, that his memory was vague on the subject and that it had been an informal kind of thing anyway.

So this man is prepared to rubbish a respected scientists work on the basis of something he can hardly remember, done some time ago under less than strict experimental conditions.

James Randi has his own agenda, and it seems to be just to poke fun at what he personally does not agree with.

James Randi is the guy who is offering 1 million dollars to anyone who can prove anything paranormal.  My opinion is that he will never have to give up his money becuase you can't use tools within the time-space reality to measure phenomena in realities (or dimensions) beyond time-space.

I'm sure if you ask him how he accounts for the Near Death Experience and all of that phenomena he has a nice answer about the brain shutting down giving off it's last electrical charges, etc.  But how can anyone know that's what's happening for sure?  That's only a guess.  How can you have an explanation for someone who was pronounced dead after doctors tried for 15 minutes or so to revive him, then placed a sheet over his head and a toe tag on him and sent him to the morgue before he revived? (Danion Brinkley's NDE)  There's a Russian man who was dead for over an hour who was in a refrigerator at a morgue when he revived!  How can anyone scientifically explain these occurances?

Concerning professional skeptics, I'm reminded of G. Buddha's quote, "he who knows everything, learns nothing".  I feel my time is better spent seeking more knowledge and experience than argueing with someone who wants to prove he's right and everyone else is wrong.

I agree mediastreamer. What you end up with is not a debate or arguement as such. Just a kind of diatribe, by as you say somone who wants to prove that they are right. What I find quite ironic is that people like this make their living from criticising the people they do.

So James Randi wouldn't actually have a job if no-one existed to critique. In a sense then whatever Randi thinks about him he should be quite grateful to Uri Geller:) What a thought eh:)
