Title: Reincarnation and Remembering Post by joejoe2288 on May 25th, 2006 at 6:27pm
Hey guys, sorry to start so many threads, there is just so much I want to know. Ok so this may be a simple question, but it probably deserves a detailed answer:
If/when we are reincarnated, are we able to remember our past lives once we return from earth? I think this is a very scary feeling to think we wouldn't be able to remember our past lives. Because if we are reincarnated again and forget this life, then I will forget everyone I loved in this life. For that reason, I can't really believe in reincarnation, or i would have to say i only believe in reincarnation if you get to remember your past lives. Still, I would sway towards non-reincarnation because I can't imagine loving someone else so much and being able to forget them and move to my next life. Thanks for all the thoughts and inputs! Joe |

Most people can recall important moments. Kids usually have excellent recall, but people talk us out of it as we grow.

I haven't read that many sources regarding reincarnation, but they tend to suggest that when you return to the spirit World you retain your memory of what took place before you were born into a current incarnation. Not only do you remember past lives, you also remember beings that you know in the spirit World. There's a viewpoint that reincarnation doesn't work precisely as people think. Rather, there are spirits we're connected to in the spirit World, and when we return to the spirit World we share our experiences with them (or even as our incarnation takes place). Later on, when we exist as spirits, we'll benefit from the experiences of future incarnated people, just as current spirit beings benefit from us now. With this viewpoint in mind, perhaps some spirit beings will reincarnate because they're really attached to the physical, or for some other reason. I can't say for certain what's true, but I tend to like the viewpoint I just posted more than the common viewpoint of reincarnation. Hundreds or even thousands of physical incarnations. I shudder to think about it. |

Hi Joe,
My opinion is that being alive, and each life we have, is a learning experience for our souls. For this learning to be of value to our souls, we have to remember stuff about our past lives once we return from earth. I think most kids do remember tidbits from past lives. My mom wrote down alot of "past-life stuff" and "how I chose this life" stuff that I had said when I was a toddler - it blew me away when I re-read it as an adult because it was pretty advanced stuff about reincarnation/spirituality. However, in this lifetime (ie your current incarnation) it's unhelpful to remember too many details about past lifes. It's not necessary for this lifetime to feel sad, happy, guilty, attachment ,etc about things past that were part of a different lesson for you. Hope this helps in your exploration of what's beyond this life! Best wishes, -K |

Yea, I definitely could agree with recoverer's view of reincarnation because when in the spirit world, I think you can most likely feel other peoples emotions, therefore learning while in the spirit world.
Thanks for the input, anymore is very welcomed Joe |

Hi joejoe,
I had some experiences with what seems to be past lifes of mine, at least I identified myself with persons I saw in meditation, and some were really emotional- the heavy way. I would say if one feels the need to find out something about past lifes one should try, if not, it's probably not needed. I'm the opinion that no information gets lost. And: Maybe you know the ones you love now from another life and you chose to meet again in this life, a start as new human persons, but maybe not so new as spirit- at least I've got this info about my life. On this forum are tons of topics/posts regarding this and other reincarnation issues. Get yourself a trip through it! Spooky |

Hi, joejoe2288,
You say, "... If/when we are reincarnated, are we able to remember our past lives once we return from earth?..." Well, personally I believe that we do but, obviously, cannot prove it. My reasoning is that during past life regressions (of which I`ve expereinced a few now) we are taken back to previous existences in the physical. Now, if our soul/spirit from those existences went to the Afterlife without being able to remember them how would we be able to remember such experiences in our present incarnation? In other words, how would forgotten experiences be able to be brought forward to later incarnations? Also, spooky2 is correct when he says "... Maybe you know the ones you love now from another life and you chose to meet again in this life, a start as new human persons, but maybe not so new as spirit...", as proved by Dr. Brian L. Weiss in his excellent series of books on past life regressions. In his last one, Mirrors of Time, he includes a past life regression CD so you can try it for yourself. It`s excellent! Have a go, you will be surprised at the results. In one of my past life regressions my partner was my daughter. There is no doubt our families/friends were families/friends in previous existences, but in different roles - all part of the learning curve. roger :) |

Those who say that we do remember are wrong, because i certainly dont remember one litle thing!!
and how do we explain theese contacts from the other side, never ever did a sole say "i was reincarnated bla bla"..because when you ask them about afterlife they say it continues just like here with the diference that you are more aware about everything, more experienced....they didnt mention reincarnation.Theese experiences had my close friend and she asked the man that died over 3000 years ago "how is it when you die" he answered "the word death is made up because death does not exist, you just continue to live..but in a very different way" and then at the end he said "you will be able to be with your close ones after you come to us"..so reincarnation does not make any sense. And im not saying this because of thius experiences tht my friend has but because of many other reasons too. |

I had an experience where I remembered what it was like before I incarnated.
I heard my self say "I'll miss you." I heard a man's voice say back "I know." I had strong feeling of the concern I had about the difficulties I might go through during this incarnation, and I felt like I would miss the spirit I was talking to. |

Yes muslima23, hallucination, just like everything else too. Or can you provide a proof for the truth of any perception we do have?

Varying beliefs are a part of being human. My plan is to keep an open mind when I cross over. I don't want to bog myself down in a self created belief system. I want to find the wonders that exist right away.

Ashley, I don't remember any of my past lives either. But I have had readings done by a psychic where she told me of some of my past lives. Actually, it was the ones where I needed to retrieve those past life aspects. You won't find very many people that do remember their past lives, only maybe as children might.
You don't need to worry about it. Your higher self knows about your past lives and you are living your life according to the lessons needed to be learned in this life. We all are. Blessings, Mairlyn |

I don't remember my past lives either, but somehow
its just a knowing inside that I have been here before. Have you ever met someone and could swear you have known them,or you just seem to recocnize them but just can't put a finger on from where? This happens to me often. I don't think we are supposed to remember our past lives because it might ruin the lessons we are to learn in this lifetime. I read a good book called "Journey of Souls" by Michael Newton about ten years ago when my mother passed, it helped with alot of questions I had at that time, maybe it can answer some of yours. :) |
