Hi Shorty, at 18 years old, perhaps living a very full life might be best, certainly important.
There is neither 'heaven' or 'hell', but you will continue to live in a real, solid world - the quality of which depends entirely on what you do with this one. |

It may take a bit of time but a search through the threads of this board will answer most of your questions and prove to be quite rewarding. I think you will enjoy this process of discovery. Eighteen is a fantastic age to start learning.

I'd say there is a heaven because I experienced it one night. This might sound contradictory, but it was better than I can remember.
Some people get stuck in their own self created darkness for a while, but if you live a good life, according to love, you won't have to worry about it. |

Hi Ashley,
I'm happy to see you posting here as you will learn a lot. I just finished replying to your comments on my Live Journal website and I also sent you an email. I agree with Rob that 18 is a great age to start your journey of learning. Bless you. ;-) Love, Mairlyn ;-) |

In answering your most sincere questions shorty...
You may find it useful to do some independent research regarding texts/websites/forums (such as this), regarding afterlife experiences/explorations. Then, as Bruce has put... filter through the information and integrate into your own belief system that which resonates with you (feels right)... Also, as Bruce has put, nobody can force beliefs onto you or anyone else... you must experience things for yourself in order to fully understand/integrate them into your own belief system. Hence, Bruce has lovingly paved a road for those willing to take the journey by explaining to them ways in which they themselves can explore the afterlife/astral planes, and gather information for themselves... I do highly suggest you do some immense independent research regarding this often times, complex and sometimes difficult topic regarding the afterlife. Here's some study material that I've found personally useful regarding my own research: 1.) Bruce Moen's collection of "Afterlife Journey" books/tapes/workshops... 2.) Robert Monroe's books regarding the afterlife... 3.) "Any" independent "authentic" books regarding the afterlife... 4.) Websites that pertain to the questions you pose, including, but not limited to: "www.nderf.org"... "www.near-death.com" ... "www.astralpulse.com", & all of the sites that Kyo has so kindly posted regarding the information you so desperately seek (located under the "personalities" topic in this discussion forum)... 5.) And "much" "much" more... (What better way to find out information about the afterlife, than from those who have been there)... and remember, hold beliefs in that which resonates with you, and you alone! ;) Have fun, and enjoy a little life along the way! Hi C-A
As I recall, 18 is the end of a long period of confusion about growing up, and the beginning of being able to make a difference. Good for you! As for the rest of life, it's all a piece of cake. The first 70 years are the hardest, but the rest comes easily. If I might make one suggestion, I urge you to learn meditation. A few days reading Bruce's books is an excellent background, showing the spiritual world in terms of earthbound spirits who get stuck in their own creative juices and attachment to pride, fear, desire, hatred etc. Once you get the basic idea, you might enjoy reading the Upanishads (esoteric Hindu philosophy passed on from the guru to the students sitting nearby). Get a complete copy with all the minor Upanishads included (Bodhi Tree Books on Melrose in Los Angeles has a good translation.) I'd also suggest Patanjali's Yoga Sutras (this is a classic and may be published under other names) and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Then keep on asking questions, looking under flat rocks for misunderstandings, and testing the psychic waters, an you'll find that your meditation practice can carry you to total enlightenment in as little as six months (according to Swami Sivananda). The key is to be consistent, keep up the pressure of interest and steady meditative practice, and avoid getting in your own way as you evolve. I guarantee this will totally and completely answer your questions. I'd be happy to suggest a few other books if you want advanced material. You might want to keep in mind the words of Ramana Maharshi and his followers, "God dwells within you, as You." Blessed be! d |

Greetings Mr_Clean, those websites are a really good resource as a way to "get the feet wet" so to speak. I am constantly reading and re-reading them. They update quite frequently as well. Sometimes you'll find that after reading other material and then going back to some of the stuff that you've read before, that it will actually give you a new perspective on it. Also, personal experience is always a good way to add new perspectives when rehashing "old" material.
Spiritual enlightenment is an indefinite road of bliss layered over bliss. We're all on this rollercoaster of self discovery/ever evolving enlightenment together. It can really be an amazing experience if one lets it be. Sometimes it's hard to see past the dualities of our physical world, but it can be a friend if one lets it be... Peace, And smell the fragrant roses once in awhile! ;) PUL, Cosmic_Ambitions |

Shorty--- a simple answer for you.
What do you WANT your heaven to be? Do you want trees, animals, water, Ma and Dad? When we first pass over most of us will get to take a rest, then review our physical lives. If you want helpers---there will be helpers. Slowly but surely you will "remember ALL" and then you get to choose where the next learning experience will be. You get to choose the reception area that is most comfortable for you. I hope this helps. Love and Light ---cat |

That was very well-written Cosmic. I don't know about you, but I find it comforting to hear the near-death accounts because it gives me hope for the future; a future with departed loved ones from a place beyond this world where we all come from and will return someday. |

Hi Shorty,
After reading your post, and the replies it has thus received, I thought I'd chip in with a few comments of mine own. My first thought is to wonder why someone as young as yourself at the beginning of their adult-life, should be thinking about its conclusion; but then I remembered that I was pondering upon death even earlier. Not upon death, per se, but like you, wondering if there was a continuation, or was it simply a case of fading into total oblivion? Many accept this world to be a plane of learning for spirit. A plane of 'being' in which the rough and the smooth of the physical life experience imbues an appreciation of others on the same journey (they suffer the same storms and calms as one does) . Many again, accept the life experience as a means for the 'part' to find a way to re-assimilate back into the 'Whole' (whatever you consider this 'Whole' to be, God, Source, Universal Conscious, etc). If you do not follow one of the ritualistic doctrines of one of the so-called 'organised' religions (as I don't), it can leave one feeling disconnected, bewildered, aimless, and unsure of perceiving a meaning to one's life. Man is a spiritual being (having an 'inner' and 'outer' conscious experience), and as well as seeking meaning to his physical life experience - the why and wherefore of it, he also seeks meaning to its ending. By possessing the attribute of memory, he is able to look back to the earlier parts of his life, and by the same attribute, he is able to anticipate intuitively forward to the later parts, perhaps in the calm moments reflecting upon the day when his life will terminate. Ergo, it is natural that he might ask questions of his mortality, and in the asking seek some comforting enlightenment that will help to ease his anxious mind. You have received good advice from the earlier posters, and their advice carries the common theme of 'seek and ye shall find'; I'll echo their sentiments by counseling you to seek life, for therein lay your answers. They will not be answers of definity, but of realisations, inklings of a post-mortem continuation within a brighter, more loving Consciousness. Whatever you discern that Consciousness to be, might depend upon what you encounter throughout your life, for experiences will come upon you thick and fast. They will test and challenge you, worry and trouble you, but as they do, in all of them is a growth and shaping that will help to mould the man you will come to be. Remember always, the counsel Polonius offered to his son Laertes, "..to thine own 'self' be true..", and by this you will come to know the purpose of life as inscribed above the temple entrance in New Dehli...'Know Thy Self'! It is a covenant we all make as we step into existence. As a rather famous Mr. Spock often stated...'Live long and prosper'. Regards |

I would think of it like this, if your memory is erased, your kind of erased because it is past events that make you who you are. But to say that would be crazy because from a first person point of view, if there is no you, there really is no world, no earth, no anything, is there. Just doesn't seem right.

They say that realization of error is the beginning of truth, that recognizing our ignorance is the gateway to wisdom, and that knowledge of our impending death is the gateway to discovering eternal life.
Maybe it's al true? d |
