Title: My XPS 600
Post by joshua.acup on Apr 7th, 2006 at 1:50am
Thought I would share this with you guys. This is what I plan buying with some of my sign on bonus once I get out of Basic Training (Yes, yes indeed I am a nerd):

Pentium® D Processor 930 with Dual Core Technology 3.0GHz, 800FSB

1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz- 2 DIMMs

20 inch Ultrasharp 2007FP Digital Flat Panel (2 of them)

Dual 256MB Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX with SLI Technology (w00t!!!)

160GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/ Native Command Queuing

Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ XtremeMusic (D), w/Dolby® Digital 5.1

All this will be running me $2,679.00, however it will take me 18 weeks to complete my Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training so I'm sure the price will go down and i'll be getting better technology with that for the price. But yea I'm excited :)

Okay, I'm officially jealous (and yes, you are officially a nerd... ;) )

Problem is, while I lust after fancy hardware, almost all I do is internet, absolute best anyone can do out here in the swamp is 28.8 (and that's a really good day), so it'd kinda be gilding the lily, except maybe for big pretty pictures ...except for bragging rights...and I'm too cheap to pay money for that... ::)

hehe, yea well you see I am a huge gamer and software engineer, and I am into Internet and Network Security right now, so this is the perfect 'rig' for me :), not to mention I LOVE dual monitors, I can work more effecently. But thats just me..

Well, see, you've got a legit excuse...and dual monitors are very cool;  my daughter said that was about the only thing she misses from her web design job that she quit, except of course for not having to try to cope with the 28.8 pouring-molasses-through-a-straw connect speeds out here.

hello just a word of warning about the SLi technology

if u plan on playing the latest video games on this new rig then beware :o  SLi has caused lots of problems.

that is one special system whats weird is it is near enough identical to mine that i bought just after xmas  :)

Dual-Core rocks man and Serial ATA is so slick its gotta be too good to be true.

I have the exact same sound card as your getting and it is utterly immense, never has Jimi Hendrix souned so good and it is 7.1 by default but 5.1 sound should work

Have fun man and enjoy ur new rig
