No body = no lungs, no lungs and no body = no need for oxygen.

Maybe the "breeze" came from the same place as the dress that it was blowing? In the Lower Astral, where we still relate to earth things, people eat, drink, wander around etc in bodies. In the Upper Astral, relating to Spirit, bodies can be discarded, or not as may be desired. I even had one woman who died and was reincarnated in a pasture with her horse. (I wonder whether Jerry Springer has considered opportunities in the afterlife.)

I tend to "see" spooks who have no body at all. They're just kinda "thick places in the air" that look about as substantial as the heat waves we see rising from a desert highway. They don't need to breathe. Others often see them as glowing balls of light, transparent, and tenuous.

However, if you want air, I'm confident that air can be provided.

My take on it, is that when we first pass over, we are identical because we recreate what we can in spirit of our old body.  Our appearance, eyes, ears, nose, and we "breathe," in the spiritual plane although it is not air, nor is it necessary to do it.

I think as we progress spiritually, we realize that we have discarded our body for good, and at some point, we no longer feel the need to replicate things like eating, writing, etc. in the spiritual plane.  Eventually, we realize that our bodies do not have to be replicas of our earth form either; but I doubt this happens quickly.  I'm not sure what we progress to; angels?  glowing balls of amorphous energy?  I just don't know.  Eventually, as we express love and try to help other souls/spirits, we ascend to a higher plane.  So far, I don't think this means a loss of earthly memory or identity, although Don points out that Swedenborg, and Robert Bruce believe that part of moving on spiritually is losing one's memory or attachment to earthly things.

gee that sounds fun  :-[

But could you keep aspects of your physical life with you? For instance, I absolutely love sports and playing them, would i be able to organise a soccer match with all the great footballers that are now in the spirit world?

Also Swedenbourgs belief that we "need" to shed earthly memories really scares me, this is the biggest fear of death that i have.  In this life i have many wonderful friends, and have met many wonderful people, so would i have to lose these memories, this for me is where I find it hard to comprehend this

Don't sweat it, Jambo.  Free will means we decide how and when we are ready to evolve.  I know Don cites ES and Robert Bruce frequently, but who says they have a lock on the truth with regard to spiritual memory?  There are examples of contact being made decades after a death.  If love is what the universe is all about, then even if we evolve/ascend, we would maintain our memory and love of what has gone on in the past, even if we were not tied to earthly things.

It is so clear that heaven and the divine is tied to the earth by love.  So therefore, our love and free will will pretty much guarantee memory.  Initially, it even appears we may access long buried memories when we examine our lives immediately after death.
