Title: the lord Post by deanna on Mar 17th, 2006 at 7:38pm
Its up to god when we die we are put on the earth to do a certain amount of things and when these things are finished god calls us back home ,it dosent matter if you are the fittest person on the earth if its your time to go its makes no difference ,you might as well live your life as it comes , god our father in heaven who created all things on earth and in heaven knows when it is time to call us home ,thats what i truly believe .deanna

Hi Deanna,
when you consider God as all-knowing and all-mighty, then of course. Spooky |

Title: I DOUBT that... Post by Chumley on Mar 18th, 2006 at 8:09am
I could take my pistol and blow my brains out right now, if I wanted. (Or, I could be careles cleaning it and have an "accident.")
OR I could choose NOT to blow my brains out. Or I could choose to be CAREFUL cleaning the thing. Just got back from my night on the town for St. Paddy's. I could have gotten stinking drunk and tried to drive with my feet. But I DIDN'T. Sure, accidents happen. Disease happens, heart attacks yadda yadda. But I think that we can CHOOSE our means of death to a large extent (even if it is by old age.) We're NOT robots after all. What about suicide? Does "God" decide that some people will deep-six themselves, or is it THEIR individual decision? And why did I start smoking back in high school, then? ARE you saying that wasn't MY choice to take up that destructive, risky habit? Come now, Deanna/Ryan - it's a simple concept, FREE WILL. (OR are you denying we have free will and we're just "God's" wind-up toys..?) B-man |

but you are (a piece of ) god.
god is in you and you are in god. god acts through you because you are a piece of god. So how does it makes sense to describe god as some holy puppetmaster? |

I recieved no divine strength when i lost my father, i prayed, this was back when i was a practicing catholic.
I recieved no comfort from external sources, I was told all my life that if i prayed to God, he would help me through the bad. There is always emptiness there, it's just something you have to accept as a part of life, and move on. I don't see how God can have any direct effect on someone. I've seen people pray all their life for one thing or another, doesn't mean it ever comes true. It's just a psychological crutch so you can help YOURSELF through your troubles. I'd love to experience direct 'divine' meeting or whatever. I've prayed for it all my life, but crap in one hand pray in the other, see which one fills up first... |

So Black_Napkins
how do you contrast your experiences with something like this? http://www.spiritual-endeavors.org/seth/patsyNDE.htm Why don't more of us have experiences like this? It certainly seems to be convincing to the people involved. |

Black Napkins said "I'd love to experience direct 'divine' meeting or whatever" and I pointed to a story about a divine experience.
I was agreeing that people who have these experiences seem to view reality, and religion, differently. The god concept changes for them. What did you think of the story, deanna? I'm sorry you have alot of sadness in your life. But you can't assume that everyone else has had just smooth sailing. And what is difficult for person A may seem like nothing to person B, so even if you tell me the details I may not feel the same things as you. And vice versa. But I have trouble accepting the concept of a god who makes all the decisions like you said. |

Iloved the story lucy found it very interesting ,i believe that we do choose the life we lead on the earth plain and your right i know i,m not the only one who is suffering in this world its just when you keep going through things it makes you feel like your the only one at the time but of course your not,i am going to try and change my life if i can to try to make it better somehow ,life is for living love deanna

I wish there was a way to have an NDE without being injured or sick or operated on!
WHen I look back on my painful experiences and wish they were not so, I also wish I had loved myself (more) because I think if I had, things would have been different. I wish I knew how to sustain that sense of wonder in being that the author of the story seems to have. |
