Title: A rich, handsome, athletic, DEAD A-hole. How? Post by Chumley on Mar 11th, 2006 at 6:18am
We recently had a fatal stabbing at a drinking party near where I live. Didn't know any of the people involved... but I DO know that the 20-year-old "victim" was a handsome, all-star athlete, RICH boy (who was said to have a REAL flair with the girls, BTW.) He also had a reputation as a vicious, sadistic bully. (In fact, the reports indicate he was in the process of doling out an (unprovoked!) beating when he was stabbed - as he was straddling the "perp" and pounding on him (the "perp" had been trying to avoid him all week, and had the misfortune of encountering the "victim" at the party.) ANYWAY, as he was being pounded, the "perp" managed to fish out a switchblade and stab "Pretty-Boy" several times (interestingly enough, our "perp" was a smallish, fat-faced kid about two years younger than our (now-defunct) "hero".)
My question is... how did such an a$$-hole, get to live on Earth as a "guy with everything"? Especially if Don was right and there is no reincarnation, why would such an individual be created? Assuming also that Don is right, and we pre-exist but do NOT reincarnate to Earth, why would a "jerk spirit" be given such an awesome vehicle and cool life circumstances, which he would then use to torment others? Presumably, God knows everything... Assuming that mechanistic materialism is wrong and that there IS an afterlife, the only solution I can see, is that this well-favored - but NASTY - individual was being dealt a humility lesson of some kind, in being killed by the weaker person he was gleefully tormenting. But barring REINCARNATION and another go-round, what would he be learning, that could possibly be of use to him? Some sort of karmic adjustment, is the only way I can imagine ANY rhyme or reason in this sad little affair. But if we "only go 'round once", we have to assume that "Pretty-Boy" was created as an object lesson for "God's Holy Wrath", to be murdered here and then used as a torture-toy in "Hell". But wouldn't "God" have to be a serious capital-J "Jerk" to create such a person in the first place? After all, not only did "Pretty-Boy" suffer, but he caused suffering for many around him (by no means the least, his OWN LOVED ONES - think about the grief of his parents, who got to see so much PROMISE go swirling down the commode..?) So unless this WAS a reincarnational, karmic sort of thing... how can we explain it, without falling back on brain-dead, mindless "faith"? B-man |

Hiya Chumley,
Well personally I don't want to believe in reincarnation. First of all I want to be me and grow and learn and when I pass to the otherside still be me. My thoughts are if i reincarnated, when i returned over there from my next life, surly i wouldn't be me anymore? But I can understand the idea of reincarnation, in that we are just "probes" if you like (and as Bruce calls them) sent here to this Earth enviroment, playground, learning centre to go through lessons we need to in order to grow. This makes sense to me but still can't understand how our "over-soul" personality incorporates the probe's, underless it just takes on the lessons, which doesn't explain how we can communication to past ones. Unless these personalities, probes are allowed to be themselves as well as being connected to an oversoul. For me this at the moment is like pondering how big space is. But I do believe in reincarnation as it explains many things more than what it doesn't. Such things as why we have "bad" souls down here and why sometimes good people are without reason hurt etc. I think it is too complex to even begin to understand by thoughts go like this... Every person here is interconnected many times over in a mass spider web if you like with each other. But (just thinking how to best explain this) say this bully he got killed, hes up there now learning from this, what he did wrong (hurting others and his concequense). I bet when he next reincarnates he is more caring to other people prehaps. The person who stabbed him has learnt what its like to be on the recieving end (maybe he was a bully before this life or maybe this is just a lesson as i don't believe in karmic issues - i believe we all have to go through each lesson). But its not just them, the people around needed to learn something which they have from this experience, even the people who here about like you. But then if you imagine the experience is like chucking a stone in water, the ripples spread affected others like me for instance because of your post. The circle grows wider. I think we have set lessons to learn and many others we learn along the way. So all in all i would say (not sure whether I have answered your post haha just rambling) that there is reincarnation. And that not just the people invloved in the "incident" are involved in learning. Also eveything happens for a reason, to learn, to grow. But many of times we wont understand the lesson till later in life or maybe not untill we have past. And i know thats a "poor excuse" and just a belief to explain things but think about everything you think has happened pointlessly, you can always find a reason. I don't know how to end this expect for saying what do you think? Ryan |

He was not created as a jerk. We are all created equally with free will. He chose his life pre-birth with obvious lessons to learn, karma to balance. And as Bets says, did he help YOU learn something? Namaste, Mairlyn ;-) |

Ok, I can't resist, Chum, ya got me into this one.
Firstly, he was born into a rich family. Big deal. He may have been good looking. He was a bully and a sadist. Those people are not happy with themselves. We also don't know the relationship of this Richy Rich bully to his family and friends. That may have played a role into why he was where he was and with whom. I posted the poem Richard Cory before on this board. There was a folk song in the 60s about him. Rich, powerful, seemingly perfect, and one night he put a bullet in his head. How many rap stars or hollywood stars are in rehab or lonely when to onlookers they may seem to have anything they want? Spirituality has nothing to do with being attractive, rich or an athlete. I like Kyo's description of what we should make our goals: to paraphrase: "what have you learned and who have you helped each day?" Only in ridding ourselves of fear and anger and expressing love are we truly blessed. Matthew |

Hi Well whatever happened to him through his life to make him act this way we will never know .One things for sure though he definetly thought that material things were more important than love and respect for others feelings. I think when he went to spirit he would have had a life reveiw so he could feel all the hurt and misery he had inflicted on others.
He will feel remorse then probably not straight away but in time he will because in the spirit world he will be taught how to really love. Then he will probably reincarnate and be a more wiser and loving spirit. Its just a thought. God bless juditha |
