Title: A Memorable Dream in NM
Post by vikingsgal on Mar 10th, 2006 at 5:27am
In 1991, I was in New Mexico taking graduate-level
literature courses.  A friend and I shared an L-shaped
dorm room for the duration of the session.  My part
of the room was in the upright part of the L with
a window overlooking the inner courtyard adjacent to my bed.

All in all, it was a wonderful, relaxing time for both of us on many, many levels; therefore, I was truly unprepared for the weird dream I had early one morning.

I could hear the sound of birds breaking the morning stillness when I decided to awake and get up.  I opened my eyes and saw, standing next to the  bed, an incredible figure.

From the neck down, it appeared to be an American
Indian wearing some kind of a loincloth, and barechested.  I cannot describe more of the attiire
because  I was staring with amazement at its
head/face.

I did not, at first, feel frightened by what I saw and
thought to myself, " Oh, after all it's just a mask."
What I was looking at was what appeared to be
a mask made of short fur divided by a curving
diagonal into two sections: the upper part brown
and the lower part white. I could easily discern the
texture of the fur--short, hard.

Peering at me steadily from the mask were what
seemed to be small, entirely black eyes.  As I
thought that what I was seeing was a mask, the
entity slowly turned its head so that I could clearly
see that the neck moved smoothly from neck to fur with no possibility of it being a mask.

This realization caused me to feel real terror.  I
squeezed my eyes shut, rolled onto my other side,
saying, " NO, NO.   GO AWAY."  With that my friend
came in from her section asking me what was wrong because she had heard  my cries.  Whatever I had seen was completely gone.

I said to myself , " Oh, after all it's
