Title: A Note about Peer Moderator Post by Bruce Moen on Feb 9th, 2006 at 11:08am
To:
Those of you who would have like to have seen this thread moved, modified or removed earlier . . . The Peer Moderator program is a way for your voice to be heard, for you to express your desire to keep this site a nice place to visit and share. But, for that program to work, you must use it. Posting comments within the potentially offending thread asking for its removal or explaining why you think it should be remove are not how the Peer Moderator program works. There are far too many threads on all the various forums for the Peer Moderator Administrator to read through every post within every thread, every day, on every forum looking for such comments. The program works when you take the time to click on the "Send a Peer Moderator email" link at the bottom of the page, and send your comments via an email to the Peer Moderator Administrator. When these emails are received, as one about this thread was today (Feb 9) the thread is checked out and if it violates the posting guidelines it may be modified, moved, or deleted. So please, in the future if you feel a thread vilolates the posting guidelines, use the Peer Moderator program! Send in your comments about the thread using the program by using the "Send a Peer Moderator email" link instead of posting about it within the thread. The Admin |

Thank you Bruce. Although I didn't ask for it to be removed, I'm certainly glad that others did. It's threads like this that bring down the vibration of the forum.

If all some people here are going to do is complain about critizism of their beliefs 'til they get their way and have a whole thread deleted, I'm out of here.
Everyone believes different things, and I'm sorry, but that means you are NOT all right. Critical discussion of beliefs is a useful way to help sort through them, but apparantly that's not what people are really interested in here. I'm pretty much ready to pull a laffingrain at this point- save the pointless, overly-dramatic going away thread.. |

NJE,
I think that the criticism of a major religion was found offensive. I stated my opinions in that thread and don't regret them. It was more of a political discussion and less of an afterlife or consciousness issue. Bruce has posting guidelines, and I'm sure that with the complaints, there was a violation. There is a lot of meaty discussion here, and I wouldn't let one thread like this disuade you from staying. Matthew |

Nje,
The thread was removed because it had nothing to do with forum called "AFTERLIFE KNOWLEDGE CONVERSATION BOARD" It has nothing to do with people getting their own way. Perhaps you missed the the red lettering that says: ;) "Help keep this forum an on-topic, safe place for appropriate discussion." So it appears there are guidelines to be followed and respected. |

Having your own believes is cool. I like hearing and reading people's views on life and spirituality. But having your believes does not mean attacking other peoples believes either explicitly or implicitly. This discussion was just an attack on a belief system due to it attachment to a race and culture. To be honest I can see why people do get angry with fundamentalism especially because of the pain and suffering it is causing to our societies and freedom. But people seem to forget that waging a verbal war on a whole culture or belief is the whole point of the fundamentalists goal. They want you to do this! On top of that, like mentioned above, it was not an afterlife topic. I know adding to this topic again is not helping it disappear but I felt I needed to explain why I wanted it to go. |
