I've had more than one oobe, but last night was so different.  It even started different.

I was relaxing, preparing for sleep, when I seemed to start spinning very fast.  Not "me" physically, "me" astrally.

I found myself outside of my body, nothing to fear there, something I've wanted to do for the last several nights to go explore.

I moved out of my bedroom and into the livingroom.  There is a light in there that stays on all night.  As I moved further into the living room, it became darker and darker.  Kind of like a light on a dimmer, slowly going out.

I moved towards my front door in order to exit the house.  I managed to get there and partly open the door (not sure why I needed to open the door to go out, since I had just come through my bedroom door ??? ).  

I couldn't go out.  Then, it got totally black.  I could see nothing, but I could feel the door.  Its a metal panel door and I could feel the coolness of it and the ridges and bumps.  But, I could not move beyond it.

Frustrated by this  and confused about why I couldn't see anything I returned to my body, fully awake by this time.

progress eh? ;D this is classical Shirley from all the accounts I've read of. but I see it as the beginning, not like an obstacle at all, but "you" showing yourself, first that your living room (the place of consciousness where we do most of our living) grows dim for you and u are now to go out the front door. (the back door I see as the imagination) so u move to the front to examine the reality whether there is something stopping you from progress to explore "out there." you've been wanting to do this for awhile and you begin now to manifest according to your desire. you feel the door to see if it's an obstackle and why this is so that you walked through one door already, so what could it be to prevent u from walking thru this one? probably a belief system that u cannot do it. the blackness is where u will engage the imagination, because the imagination is the great unknown. Bruce talks about the blackness. we have to have "black space" in order to define an objective, so it's not negative. the door is partly open which is very comforting and it won't be long now, you will slip through it as soon as you can define a location as your objective. no sweat, but next time go to the back door and try that! ha ha! have fun!

personally speaking, I never knew where to go, so I went nowhere! ha ha! figures, right? I still have to get myself to the library consciously. working on it! love, alysia :D

I'd suggest doing any OBE during the day if you're experiencing blackness.

Night time can be pretty scary whilst in-body, let-alone out!  :P

It sounds like Astral Blindness. The old 'clarity now' will probably do the trick.  ;)

I've not ever had a problem with the night..and there wasn't even fear involved..just frustration.  I think my problem was that I had no place in mind.

That's kinda like my life..I want to go, just don't know where.  So, I get stuck without being able to "see".

Tonight will be different..I'm sure of that! :D
