A young mother was forced to take her baby on a long walk in the Welsh countryside.  Suddenly an unexpected snow blizzard enveloped her and it became bitterly cold.  She was too far from shelter and realized she would soon freeze to death.  When she was finally found dead after the blizzard, a baby was found nestled in her arms and coat and shielded from the wind.  The baby survived and was just fine!  That baby grew up to be Lloyd George, one of Britain's greatest prime ministers.  He was always energized by the image of a beautiful young woman pouring love into his soul in that blizzard and sacrificing her life to save his.  This memory tenderized him and spurred him on to greatness.

OK, I grew up in Winnipeg, Canada where it was routinely 40 below in winter and a few times got as low as 60 below.  I occasionally got badly frost-bitten.  The freezing process intially stings and burns, but you soon get numb and this can give you a false sense of security.  When you finally get out of the cold, you feel like you are on fire as you defrost.  Your body gets very brittle when it gets extremely cold.  One guy was waiting in 40 below weather for a bus that never came.  He kept covering his ears with his hands to remove the sting and warm them up a bit.  Once when he did this, he found a frozen ear in his hand broken off!  In the actual death process numbness is followed by sleepiness.  A woman from my church went out for a walk in a blizzard on a bitterly cold night.  After searching for miles around, they finally found her a couple of hundred yards away frozen to death under a picnic bench.  She had simply gone to sleep and died.  I was very angry that no one checked under that table.  They should have guessed that she might have sought this limited shelter to escape the wind.   :o

Ever read this short story?
It has perhaps the most detailed account of a
death by freezing that I have ever read.
BTW, it is said that the "sleep of death" that
overcomes you as your body core cools to about
90 degrees F (hypothermia) is VERY pleasant indeed... you feel like you're drifting off into the most delicious sleep imaginable, in the most comfortable bed you've ever slept in (even if you're stark naked and laying on bare rocks out someplace in the middle of Wyoming in January!)
Traditionally, dying this way has been considered
"The Good Death" by the Eskimos... they used to EXPECT their elders to wander off and freeze to death when
when they became unable to keep up with the band. The elders, BTW, almost NEVER had a beef with this arrangement, and were happy to honor
it.
(Something to consider, if you're ever diagnosed
w/cancer in the wintertime in one of the Northern
States...!)

Why the  question Prill?

Was just curious on what it could be like to die that way, as its probably more peacefull entering the afterlife freezing to death than hanging yourself with piano wire for five minutes. like most suicidal people do.

The way one leaves this life as nothing to do with the way one will live His/Her life in the afterlife, the important point is that we will carry on our frustrations wherever we are even after this life.

So we have to take the chance of facing our fears or weaknesses and fight against it and win it because here we have a especially developed environment for such experience.

In the after-live we will join the ones who have the same development degree we have so there will be fewer examples of different personalities.

Enjoy your life and improve your freedom. Let thoughts about dead lag behind.
