Title: Using The TV Remote As An Oracle Post by Marilyn Maitreya on Aug 5th, 2005 at 11:05am
I don't believe I've posted this here before. If anyone tries this, I'd love to have you post your experience here. This is from Dick Sutphen's newsletter:
1. Make sure the remote control is programmed so that an active channel appears with every "flip" as you move either forward or backward through the channel selections. (You may, if you wish, include one blank channel to represent "no," or "nothing," or "Try again.") 2. Using the remote, mute the volume on the television. 3. Make sure you can find both the channel-select and the mute buttons with your eyes closed. Use two hands if you have to. 4. Close your eyes, ask your question aloud, and start flipping. When the spirit moves you, quickly press the mute button to activate the audio. 5. Listen carefully to the first two or three seconds of sound. Press the mute button again to turn off the sound and consider for a moment what you heard. You only want to hear the tiniest of sound bits. 6. While one word is often enough for your oracular answer, you may want to keep your eyes closed, repeat the process several times, and string together the words you hear. The Couch-Potato Oracle, or TV roulette-o-mancy, can be downright inscrutable with its responses. Don't be too quick to dismiss the answer as invalid. Take some time to think about it. If you feel you must try it more than once, consider the subsequent answers a continuation of the conversation. For example, my ninety-year-old mother is in failing health. This morning I asked, "What can I do to make my mother feel better?" Three consecutive answers from three different channels counseled me to * Bring something to eat. * Make funny faces. * It may embarrass the child, but that's okay. Love, Mairlyn ;D |

BTW, I can't do this (wish I could) as the remote doesn't have a mute button. :'(

You don't even need to interveen, I get oracles even when I don't seek them.

Hi Marilyn,
yesterday evening I thought "well, a beer would be nice now", but because I'm a bit careful with alcohol I decided to ask the remote-control-oracle. When I pressed the mute-button again, I heard: "...are waiting for you nearby". So, my beer was waiting for me in the refrigerator. BUT the voice was part of a silly commercial spot for that high-priced sex phone numbers which I definitely hate. "So, that oracle is playing tricks on me, mirroring the state of thinking while decision making without coming to a conclusion" I thought sipping my beer. bye, spooky |
