Title: Just an observation don't shoot me
Post by SS on Jun 27th, 2005 at 8:17pm
You know, because of my whacky experiences and the fact that I have witnessed ghosts and know that there are stranger things out there--maybe in other dimensions, I really don't question the validity of OBE's.

However, with some of the questions I've seen you would think that with OBE's that someone would have the right answer.

I keep hearing about this infinite knowledge and wisdom that you gain from other dimensions.  Where are these people at?

I just think that its ironic that no one is usually answering from an OBE perspective.  Someone must have met Jesus experienced him and able to say that he was real or whether or not he existed.

I'm sorry if it seems like I'm firing rounds, but I'm totally not.  I'm new and I think I'm just missing something.

Hi

I like your question and I don't think you have missed anything.

Personally when I come to a board like this I hope to see more "How to " stuff. I don't have vast experiences to offer and what little I have offered is insignificant for most folks, but that is what I do look for. Often through reading between the lines.

I compare this search to the search I might do if I want to find out about something to do with my car and how it runs. Hopefully I can find something that says  "Step A, Step B,..., Step N" either for troubleshooting or for fixing (I can't do the fixing but I like to try to be informed as best I can).

I always wish to do the same when I am trying to learn how others explore alternate experiences. But often I see people offering "The Truth" instead. With cars, we know there is no "Truth" but there are solutions to temporal problems.

well maybe the same is an accurate description of Jesus. Maybe Jesus is just a temporal solution.

I think the problem is that we get into these discussions (Like about who saw the real jesus) without understanding how the mind works, how concepts work, how beliefs work.

In math, we can build a system with premises and with rules of inference. well maybe we do the same thing with our belief systems. We build parallel systems because we start with different premises. Christianity, Judaism, Islam, etc. all just parallel systems. Is one of them really TRUE? The problem with answering that is that they all work. They are all effective structures. You can't claim that anyone is the TRUE one because it works, because they all work. Just because it works does not mean it is Truth. After all, cars work (even mine). The problem is that it is difficult to stand outside of a religion and see that it is a creation of the human mind.

I think the infinite knowlegde is that we can create different experiences by the assumptions we start with, by the premises we take.

So maybe the wise ones to look for are the ones who help you have your own experience of meeting Jesus in outer space/oobe and helping you decide for yourself what is real.

We have these problems because we simply do not comprehend the power of the mind to create.

I also like stories like this one

http://www.recorder.ca/cp/Entertainment/050613/e061343A.html

becasue I find this part of the story intruguing:

Quote:
The Dukes rented out the top floor until the mid-1980s. Around 1986, Lee Dukes, a janitor, said he began encountering a well-dressed figure in a corner of their bedroom.

and the following description of identifying the visitor,

and assuming this is an accurate description of what happened. I find this much more exciting...having a naive observor and having someone else confirm the visitor seen by the observor looked like Douglass....than whether or not Jesus and all the angels can dance on the head of a pin while smiling when you meet them oobe.

You really have a point and it has made me rethink alot of things.

I mean, we all know what is essentially good.  It's within us all.  That's how all these stories, whether true or not, are put together.  Love is the core of all religions.

When I teach my kids about Jesus, whether he is real or not is not usually the focus of my attention.  I teach them things like submission, compassion, determination, and alot of other things that are not taught in schools.

I think they made a mistake when taking religions out of the schools btw because it is not about imposing what is true or not or which religions is right but to teach what we know is essentially good.

What the heck is the "Truth" anyway and what good will it do us?  If we knew the truth wouldn't we all be lacking faith?  And if we lack faith, wouldn't that hinder our spiritual growth?  I think the Jesus controversy is there for a reason--to give us free will.  I don't think we'll ever know the truth because the truth isn't really important.

Ok, back to the school thing and yea, I know I get a bit side-tracked and often incoherent.

Anyway, I was so mad at some of things they are teaching in the school system.  For example, I told my kid to pick up this piece of trash on the soccer field and he says, "I'm not picking that up, I didn't put it there!"  That's just one example.

There's a bunch of other things that bothers me that motivates their selfishness.  I really think they need to put religions back into the schools and let the kids make their own choices.
