Lately I've been seeing dark shadows, like they're...cut-outs...from the rest of the air, distinct, moving, but if I stare at them directly, they vanish...as well as what I call 'ghost lights,' little flashes of odd colors that hover around my room sometimes. I'm almost certain it's not a trick of the light, or just my eyes.

I'm wondering if they're stemming from my fears, or feeding off them...fear of death, actually. I have a terrific fear of it, of ending, that is worse than I think many people have...

What are these things? Why won't they go away?

Go to a doctor ASAP.
You may have an eye problem...
If you've been hit in the face or eye
recently, it may be a retinal detachment
(easy to fix with a laser beam)
or maybe astigmatism? You might
need glasses...

Although there may be others who would like to think what you are seeing is something "mystical", I totally agree with Brendan in that you should get your eyes checked thoroughly. It is probably nothing serious, but at the very least it would put your mind at rest. "Floaters" in the eyes can play tricks with what you sometimes see.

Yes Sasuke,  It sounds just like Brendan and Roger say; go see an eye doctor asap.  A friend had symptoms like you describe. It was cleared up by the eye specialist. It probably isn't serious, but you still need to act quickly, easier to treat that way.... Best to you, Tim

dear Sasuke, if it's not an eye condition, then you may be attracting spirits, perhaps guides. it is not necessarily a negative situation. sometimes guides just introduce themselves this way just to get your attention. if you want them to go away, just announce it. spirits have to respect your privacy if you insist. don't be afraid of it (I know, easy for me to say)
surround yourself with a loving thought and you will be protected and cannot feel fear. and don't worry about dying, it's easier to die than it is to live my dear! love, alysia

I have also read that what you 'might' be seeing are called 'shadow people.' I haven't looked into this at all so I'm not really sure what that is about. You could do a search on google if an eye exam doesn't show anything wrong with your eyes.

It does not offhand sound like an eye problem to me. Eye problems
typically give you anomalies at the same location in the retina,
meaning that they will follow your eye movements so as to stay in
the same location in the scene as you see it, even though you are
moving about looking at different things.

Descriptions of orbs have sometimes included colored lights that
move around the room. If these shapes move separately from the
movements of your eyes, that would seem to say it is not an eye
problem. There are a few eye problems, like "floaters" that have a
little independent movement, but they still follow the eye.

Google has a lot on the shadow people.

Art bell and George Noory of the Coast to Coast AM radio program
have had a number of programs on the shadow people. Listeners call
in and describe that they see shapes out of the corner of their
eyes that disappear when they look right at them. I have a CD from
that program, with collections from past programs, but I have not
looked into it yet. If I come across that subject I will post it.
Visiting spooks assume that you cannot see them, if they are just
looking around, not intending to be seen, and are startled when you
appear to be seeing them.
There have also been descriptions of apparitions that are "blacker
than black", meaning that the black shape is superimposed on the
background.

Most of these experiences are not to be feared. There, you can find
out what to expect instead of fearing the unknown. Many of the
survivors had such great experiences that they did not want to come
back to life.

It might take some test on your part to see if these apparitions
are friendly or unfriendly. If they persist, you might try to talk
to them. You might want to use prayer to psychically protect
yourself, in case they are unknown. Some spirits will fear the name
of God or Jesus. That is a larger subject to go into.

At least, you now know you are not alone, and might have no
reason for great concern. I do not recall the shadow people being
dangerous.

I tried Google on orb spiritual and orb spirit. these two differnt keys
came up with different displays. It seemed different again the next day.

The message below described an orb that passed through a person. That is
the first time I have heard that.

My aunt, whilst staying at my parents house, woke in the early hours of the morning to a freezing bedroom and saw what she described as a "football made of light" at the end of her bed.

Not being easily scared, and with a natural interest and ability in paranormal matters, she climbed out of bed to observe the anomaly more closely. At this point it passed through her body and sped out of the door. She described the sensation as akin to an eletric shock, and her first thought was to check on her two youmg children who were sleeping in the next room. She followed the light onto the landing and ducked into the childrens room where they were soundly asleep. When she walked back out onto the landing the ball had vanished without a trace.

The story only came to light after odd rappings were heard in the same area of the room a while later.
