Title: The lingering, unretrieved, artist... Post by Jaya on May 4th, 2005 at 10:33am
Hello... I'm pretty new to this board, and this
is my first post. I'm going to order Bruce's latest book today, with the CDs, to get more training & understanding of all this. I've done a couple of conscious retrievals, but suspect this is something I've done a lot of on an unconscious level- at any rate, I feel very drawn to it. The other day I had what seemed to be a strange retrieval type visit, and this is what I wanted to share: There was a very successful artist who recently died. I knew her slightly 20 years ago, under odd conditions. And then I knew of her, indirectly, quite a bit more recently. I liked and admired this woman enormously. I decided to see if I could locate her, to see how she was doing after passing over. I found she had created a duplicate of the studio she had painted in for decades during her life. I recognized it because it was a place I had visited back when I was acquainted with her. She was painting away. She knew I was there, but neither welcomed me nor told me to leave. I initiated conversation with her, and this is what came out: -Yes, CERTAINLY, she knew she had died. -Yes, she knew she could 'go on', but she CHOSE not to cross all the way over yet, as she wanted to stay right where she was and paint some more for a while. So... she was what we would call 'stuck' for others in that place, in that she had not fully crossed over into the light. She was not ready to let go of her identity which she'd had in her recent life. She was not finished painting! BUT- she was fully aware of her situation, so, really she was NOT stuck. She was simply choosing to do the process in her own unique way. (She was much like this in life too- a very unique, fiercely independent, individual.) Seeing her making these choices was a learning experience for me! Not everyone needs to go across and into the light (or however you want to refer to it) as the immediate next step after human death. There are detours that are appropriate choices (not just mistakes)... Before I left, I asked if I could look at what she was painting. She beckoned me over to her side of the canvas to look. It was remarkable work, bold and colorful, and radically different from what she painted for decades of her human life. It was very exciting to see. Working out these different potentials in her artwork was clearly bringing her great joy. And, I must say it brought me joy also, to see what she was doing. So... I'm wondering if any of you have encountered similar situations?? Thanks in advance for any comments! Love, Jaya |

Hi Jaya,
Welcome to the forum. I've never run across anyone like this before but I'm sure there are many who do know they are dead but for one reason or another are not ready to fully cross over. This was very interesting. Thanks for posting it. Love, Mairlyn |

Thanks in advance for any comments! *********************** Jaya: Yes, I have encountered similar situations; I've posted some of them here and called them "Contacts" rather than "Retrievals" Hunter Thompson was the most recent. Before that Susan Sontag. Artists are very often the types who don't want to be moved on in the "regular" way. The writer Paul Bowles would barely speak to me and kind of snarled "What do you want?" Mind you, angry teenagers are often the same. Souls have every right to remain "stuck", just like anyone else, and their stay in some self-defined purgatory, as you noticed, can be quite therapeutic and creative. I just offer them the option of "having a look around", and if they don't want to, that's fine with me. For example, last year, a group of dead Kurdish soldiers in Iraq, gave me a polite refusal when I met them: they were convinced they could carry info about Iraqis back to their alive comrades, so i let them be. Later I met up with some dead Americans, who were initially distrustful, but later accepted my offer and quite liked the reception camp I brought them to. Accepting the state of souls you encounter is part of the game we play here. best, gordon phinn |

greetings and welcome Jaya, most interesting encounter. yes I can relate to it. I remember going to check on up on hubby awhile back. he had made himself a house with a sunken living room floor because he likes levels like that. I find when people pass over they often create or go to a replicate world where the most pleasure was derived while alive or the most attachment. I stood there wondering what he did with his time now..he was puttering. figures, as he didn't have any hobbies when he was alive. same lovable guy and pretty much content to putter over there, but not what u would call stuck. like your experience, hubby didn't over react to my visit, for some reason it's all casual to them, everything that happens-a couple of guides showed up to discuss a new project with him, a project that would eliminate his favorite past time of puttering but would be challenging.
then there were the little children who wanted to stay in the astral and torment their own tormentor by playing tricks on him. reminded me of a cartoon in a way, the tricks of peek a boo they were playing. the great thing about it, on this side he was not able to catch them to bring harm and this was what they were laughing about, that they were safe from this predator, of course this bothered the guy to no end. to me it was just a type of justice being played out so I retreated after asking if they wanted to stay. I like your story and I'm sure you are out there alot, as you say unconsciously. the PUL you felt really helped navigate you to her along with the curiosity and intention. thanks for posting that! |

Dear Jaya,
Welcome to the Board. I think you'll find Bruce's books and CDs very worthwhile. Since you're already doing retrievals, it'll be interesting to see if there is any difference in the methods you already use and Bruce's methods. I was hoping Gordon would answer your question as I know he's encountered the same thing. But then I realized that Darryl in my post below was basically hanging around, resisting the guide's/helper's attempts at getting him to move on, until he made sure things were alright with his family, particularly with his baby sister. I haven't any other occurrences than that, but do believe that if that's their choice then it's probably the best thing. Although I do retrievals, I only do it for those who need it and not those who don't want it or who would benefit by having other experiences. I've read texts that say that the astral plane being one of desire allows for a multiplicity of experiences. Many souls can choose to live out experiences they either missed or weren't finished with during their most recent lifetime. Eventually, they get their fill and then move on to other experiences. There isn't anything good or bad about it, just a matter of fact. It sounds like your friend is benefiting by this intense ability and opportunity to focus as well as having deeper and clearer perceptions -- which, when you think about it, would be an artist's dream! Love and light, Jeff |

Hi Jaya, Im new too to the board, today as a matter of fact and although I have had some experiences with retrievals its all been accidental. Im curious to see if the books help hone these abilities. I have yet to get them but have read the articles on the board. My trouble is doing this kind of work when Im awake. I have occurrences in dreams and realize later what was going on, so doing limited work unconsciously. Is it possible even witht he books that I'll never get better at this or are we all capable? [glb]Hi Laurell... [/glb] My intuitive hunch is that we are all able to do this sort of thing, IF we are able to deconstruct the belief system we hold that tells us we can't do it!! :) Jaya Thanks also to everyone else for their feedback on this thread- it's been appreciated! |
