Title: Big Logical Problem... Post by Brendan on Mar 14th, 2005 at 4:38am
In the faqs on this site, the Afterlife is said to be "created by humans for humans to go to after death" (inexact quote.)
What then, or rather where, did the very earliest modern humans, with minds like our own (beginning about 200,000 years ago) go to when they died? Perhaps the Homo erectus afterlife (which would be rather animalistic by modern human standards.) Or perhaps there was no afterlife before modern human minds emerged? All evidence seems to indicate that hominids didn't have much of a psychic existence before modern Homo sapiens emerged - there is even some conjecture as to whether pre-humans even had language (a NECESSITY for a real inner life, or true use of the imagination!) Any thoughts/rebuttals to share??? Resident Skeptic |

I like the way you think! It's a good question.
Past life regression has been able (at least in my clinic) to go way back prior to homonids. The inference seems to be that we start as little bits of God-stuff that evolves through the School of Hard Knocks (the technical name is karma) and sort of work our way up to who and what we are today. My own regressions include lots of memories of being kind of ape like, and go all the way back to being a worm, happily squirming in a pool of slime (Yecch). Others I've worked with have gone back farther. The earliest was involved with self-awareness in a flow of lava. (No, I can't explain it.) I'm interested in using the same methods that Bruce's Afterlife How-To technique uses to go back in regression. I'd be very interested in anybody who tries this and gets results. Maybe you? dave |

The question is if it's possible to talk about a "before" in a place where time doesn't exist? ??? Anja |

I wasn't going to say anything, but I have to because I'm thoroughly confused, and I'm hoping someone can point out where I misunderstood.
Afterlife created by and for humans? Perhaps there was no afterlife before modern human minds emerged? I thought the 'afterlife' existed long before humans..as in the place we exist in our 'true' form. Before we are born we are there, after we die we are there. I kind of think of it as the 'real' world and ours as an illusion. And besides humans going there inbetween lives, also the many different folks from the different star systems, our guides, etc. Am I misunderstanding the definition of afterlife here? Am I misunderstanding the conversation completely? Maybe it's out of context? I know it's my misunderstanding, because everyone else here seems to understand the conversation...so could someone help me out? ;D |

Only humans (as convent ally defined) would have the hubris to think that they are the ONLY source of “intelligence” in the universes, maybe you should use the term “Awareness”
Many THINGS can possess awareness; as Dave indicated. This is one of the problems with language. |

I think thats just a common mistake a lot of make in assuming human intelligence/life etc is the main source of intelligence/life.
I personally believe all existance is interconnected and is ALL a part of one bigger existance. Dave, your post did bring up a question for me about past life regression. The afterlife isn't bound by the normal rules of time and yet I could have lived 500 years in the future before I lived this life, so why no future-life regressions? My own guess is that my conciousness or existance, while existing outside of time in the afterlife is very much bound by the normal laws of time in the present life. Finally, this may sound a little harsh, but I added my own comment to this post the first time it was posted, why repost it when you could have added a comment to the old thread and bought it to the top of the list again? Maybe thats just me being picky :-/ |
