One of those things ....

One of those things about this line of work is getting used to telling people they've died. Getting that across clearly is a bit of a knack.

A sense of humor helps.

To expand on the original post slightly

Those of us who are following along at home know  I ask in our practice sessions not to contact and/or interfere in our target's field. And, reasonably, one might ask how it is, or when it is appropriate to do so (however lightly).

Informing someone that they have died, I believe, comes into the category of contacting the recently deceased.

What I observe is: as a retriever one never knows when one will find themselves called to work. And, as I observe, it never takes more than a moment of time.

"Oh, by the way, perhaps you've noticed you died..." takes as long to say as it does to read. The amount of time it takes for the penny to drop can vary from person to person. Some like a bit of whisky upon hearing the news, so there's always that.

I believe the difference is with the contact targets in the partnered exploration threads is the individual doesn't specifically need a retrieval.

When the work is directly in my landscape, well, that's a retrieval. Get in clean and get out clean. No greasy kid stuff.

Still, sometimes I'm amazed by the simplicity of it.

Noticed this sig today:

"You’re a ghost driving a meat coated skeleton made from stardust. What do you have to be afraid of?"
